Recently I had to switch to one of our other hard drives because the one I normally use is having a problem with the boot sector. So on this new one I only downloaded a web browser and Second Life. Well, since downloading Second Life on this new hard drive I've been having a specific problem with my avatar that I can't seem to find any help with. Every time I wear any shoe layer it turns my whole bottom half black. Kind of like if I were wearing just black stockings or something. I went into appearance and it seems with every shoe layer I have the texture is now black and when I take it off the blackness goes away. I've tried everything in the F.A.Q. about black avatars but none has helped. Anyone have any idea what's going on or how to fix this?

This has showed up so much in the forum lately, I am guessing you have an nVidia graphics card...

From: someone
nVidia driver version 175.xx
(must completely uninstall driver and install 175.xx, do not just install over exisiting driver)

If that doesn't work try:
Ctrl-Alt-F7 to turn off palletized textures
Then Ctrl-Alt-R to rebake avatar textures
It won't remember this so you will have to do on every login.

Also, the Release Candidate viewer is said to have solved this problem so you could also try installing that viewer (in a separate directory) and see if it works better.

If not, and/or if that doesn't work, please post your system specs including graphic card and driver version, and what version of SL you are using. (Always a good idea when requesting technical help.)
