Hello guys and gals Had this weird issue and i was wondering if its normal to happen , if any of you ever had this in the past. Got a new sim ( homestead ) to house my waves showroom ( or better show-earth LOL ) and i needed very detailed terraform of gulfs rivers islands etc, all spots designed carefully so that product intended to be there should fit perfectly in size. Before any terraform, i uploaded my own 4 tgas for the ground, experimented a bit with max and min heights of textures in 4 directions (corners) of sim, did a basic ground-up / ground-down ( draft design ) , changed a bit the heights of ground textures, was looking good, and started detailed terraforming spot by spot. The idea is to have textures changing to specific spots, meaning for example have a gulf with sand , and one side of the gulf land be rocks ( texture 2 ) diving into the sea. Was working all day long, went to bed, and today morning i see textures at various spots changed. In example above, where last night was some rocks diving into the sea and forming the left part of a gulf, today it is sand, and the rocks part moved at the center of the culf, where it should be sand Was wondering if this is normal, and what should i do to avoid double work.. Maybe after setting Ground textures and their heights, maybe wait a couple of days until new RAW , server side, is ...stabilized or something? I mean why minor changes during the night.. Any help would be welcomed, dont want to do the same work today again, and next day be a bit changed LOL PS I need accurate terraforming, i am speaking of minor details in the range of textures ( in their overlapping areas) moved overnight 1 meter or less, enough though to ruin what i had done. Should anyone wish to visit ( better than screen shots LOL ) sim name is My Paradise just an empty sim atm Merci!

Sorry to have to tell you this, but don't ever expect land to be exact in SL. The apparent shape of the land mesh can change drastically, depending on camera angle, and the texture blending can fluctuate as well. The best you can ever expect from land is to be "close enough".
If you need exact precision, consider building faux land out of prims and/or sculpties.

The textures are randomly chosen bythe client every time you re-load the sim. You can only pick the mixture, you can't pick the specific patterns.

From: Argent Stonecutter The textures are randomly chosen bythe client every time you re-load the sim. You can only pick the mixture, you can't pick the specific patterns. Argent, as I understand it, there are four terrain textures per sim. They're assigned by elevation...for example, sand, grass, mixed grass-and-rock, bare rock. The assigned textures don't change...for example, a sim with a snow texture as Texture #4 won't suddenly change that to grass. What DOES cause changes is that there is a random factor in the elevation at which the texture used changes from one to the next. Let's say, for example, sand changes to grass at 25 +/- 0.5 meters...so if a bit of your land is at 25.2 meters, it will most likely be grass...but could change to sand once in a while.

While you were logged out, there was a storm. Sand was washed off the southern rocks, and deposited on the northern shore, covering the rocks there.
So, whats the mystery?
