What the hell is Philip Linden (The owner of SL) Doing. This guy just doesn't seem to know what the hell is going on in SL. Every 5 minutes SL is going down for some reason or other and all we get is stupid excuses.

I have now been in Sl for about 3 years and the last 18 months have been horendous in this game. No-one seems to know what the hell is happening. Nothing ever works, Your crashing every 5 seconds, Systems lock up. My system keeps getting a complete reset by this program. What do we get when we are crashed a stupid and pathetic nag box telling us we can't log back in until a certain time. They crashed us. So what the hell is that all about.

There are other good games on the internet that are far more intense than second Life and they don't crash and have problems like this game does and yet Linden and his bunch of baby no nothing coders havent been able to sort things out for a very long time.

The new release. I can hardly walk with this let alone do anything, unless I go and get a very high powered GFX card that would cost more than owning Microsoft. I have heard from a lot of people that the new version is totally useless to them and we have all had to revert back to an earlier version.

I think its about timje that Mr Linden decided to sell SL out to a company that has a lot more Graphical and Coding experience than him and his no good coders.

Doesnt he realise that its time to call it a day. People and residents have had enough of the crap thats being dealt out by him.

Its and absolute disgrace whats happening to what should be an excellent environment.

I am totally fed up and disgusted at the continuous problems

That wasn't very nice. You cannot blame one person solely for the problems of an entire team. You do not know what is causing the issues anymore than we do. If this thread gets locked, I'm blaming you since you started it. ;)

It is true, the one that owns the company, takes all the blame, business fact.

Unless you have been living under a rock of late, Phillip is standing down and LL are searching for a business orientated CEO to take charge. He will remain as Chairman, which is perhaps befitting for the originator of this concept. For my money, it was a year too late. A clear minded Projects Orientated CEO would have fast tracked most of the issues that have plagued SL for the past year and even longer.

SL has finally grown up. I predict LL will step into the Share market soon. Being controlled by a few private investors, will probably thwart future expansion JMHO.

Hahaha Tal.. I run a business on SL so I do check in from time to time so I can make sure I can login to check on my business actions. As for my life beyond SL it goes well beyond my friend. So again life beyond SL .. get some.. it is sweet.

As it grows and grows,As each person makes a new object a new script is born a new sim is built and the history of each person that comes and goes from this world must be kept.
I can only think that it would be this way!
Imagen what it must take to have so much data history ,So each person from 2004 to today and tomorrow can log in at any time to find most of their things there if not all of it.
Most games are set, they are what they are and people use them, not rebuild and change every part they come in contact with on any given day and time! to be stored and sorted for the next log in or out.
Most games update every few months is a few new things.the user can only use it! not totally change it into a whole new thing.
This is not like any other game out there as far as the rules the software follows.
Live with it and choose to pay a account or go free.I am happy for the time I have not the one I missed over issues.

I agree with your sentiments completely up until this last sentence.

Without turning this into a flame thread - Why should we?

I pay for a service, admittedly its a pittance hardly missed, however it is still payment for a service, and, provided payment is rendered on time, that service does not require me to have 'a life beyond SL'.

I'm not going to get defensive and start talking about how my "first life", because its largely irrelevant.

As I've said, I pay for a service, and although there is smallprint covering such eventualities as unavoidable system outage, there has been an awful lot of said outage of late, and the worst part of the whole thing is that it seems like instead of infrastructure improvements we get flashy water effects and other graphical updates that probably make matters worse rather than solving them.

I dont think posting here with change anything, I would imagine someone around the LL office may have made a comment about how the "natives are restless" on the forum, but aside from that they'll likely be getting stuck into the problem at hand and trying to get the system back online.

I *do* agree with the rest of your post though, technology nowadays is always like this, MMO's and SL are alike in that system outage will almost always occur from time to time, they're also alike in that people will always post pages and pages of iRage posts about thier perceived losses.

I guess somethings are the same whereever you go :) Oh well, atleast RL can't crash....!

or can it? :D

I just took a look at the economic statistics for SL...

It's not being denied in world access that irks me...it's the big question of where the hell is this money going to if not to make this system better? It's easy to spout 'Get an RL" to people who have issues when SL screws up...but keep in mind..this is real life money that's being wasted...not just time and enjoyment. It may be OUR choice to throw our money into something this unstable..but SL isn't marketing themselves as a hit or miss platform...use at your own risk...We are constantly promised the big fix...which never seems to be delivered..I think we have every right to bitch seeing that we are paying customers...If I went to dinner...put down some serious bank for a nice meal and was given shit from McDonalds instead...I would bitch..

I, myself, was OK with the occasional lag...the big crash every now and again...getting my noob hair back for an hour....but at least I was able to clear my cache, relog and things were back to normal for a time...I had no REAL issues until this new FORCED download...

I agree whole heartedly with the OP...I think some serious strategy sessions are long over due...something needs to change..

It's disappointment and frustration for the most part. Sure we all have lives outside SL. Sure there are other things we COULD be doing. But as someone pointed out, this is a service that people are paying to use. When you can't access something that you are paying for, you can't help but feel cheated.

In my case, two very good friends of mine are supposed to be getting married in-world today. They were also supposed to have a bachelor party last night, but the outage prevented that from happening. Many weeks of planning have gone into their wedding. They paid a wedding consultant to put things together, send out invitations, book the venue, etc. Now an extended outage is threatening to postpone their special day.

Is it the end of the world? No. But it is a major inconvenience and frustrating as hell. With as many paying customers as LL has, and so much real money changing hands every day in-world, they need to have some failsafes in place to prevent a total shutdown of the service. It's just good business sense.
