So, for the past 3 hours, I have been trying to make SL show Japanese characters. I never had that problem in the past, but since a few weeks/months, all they type shows as empty squares or """"""""""""""".
I read many forum threads, I checked many websites, nothing works for me.
I have lost BOTH my Windows XP and Officer CDs, so I can't do it the "right" way. I also tried downloading language packs directly from Microsoft site, but it says my key is not genuine (first time I get that in 3 years, mind you?!).
And I contacted Linden Lab employee and they told me to buy myself Office XP, won't happen.
I hear what I need is arialuni.ttf which is a 22megs big file. It's also available for 99$, won't happen either.
I bet someone out there has a solution, something, please? I would highly appreciate the support!

Send you a private message which should hopefully fix your problem.

Google on "unicode font" to find a free ttf for Japanese font. Also, if I remember aright, Microsoft has them for Internet Explorer. Also, for free (and more trustworthy).

Do you have the MS Japanese IME installed? You automatically get about 4 to 6 font packs installed automatically. I've never had to download a font pack. If you're at a loss, try the MS support web site... Search Microsoft downloads for an update of the IME. (^_^)y

いっぱい覚えた!=^-^= Like mentionned above, I know of these solutions already, but I cannot work them out u__u; since Microsoft requires authentification and looks like my key now shows as non-genuine.

Yes they have them for IE, but I cannot download any of that stuff because my authentification process fails! Poop!

(^_^)y Actually, my XP is verified, my Office isn't, and all I found was Office related, or required the XP cd that I lost LOL... so in trouble! But yes, someone offered to try and download arialuni for me and send it via MSN. We will see how that goes! n__n

I just found the global IME that doesn't require Office to be installed or verified... I'm sure this is what I used, considering I only have OpenOffice. (^_^)y http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/recommended/ime/install.mspx
