Hi, Just installed SL yesterday. Everytime I log in its a little different but typically I can't move forward or back or do anything else. After I log in like 7 times it will work. Any1 know why? I have a amd 5500 2gigs ram and a x800 running vista
Also, when I get to do stuff I cant seem to change hair color

The region you're in could be very laggy, or your internet may be slow. Moving around is very dependent on those factors... One quick way to check, is to try rotating... If you can spin but not walk, you just gotta find a better, more empty region to be on and make sure your internets are nice and fast. (^_^)y

I was in newbie island and I have cable internet. I've played all kinda online games without a problem. But I can spin like you said but I never have connection problems.

I tried Tabula rasa and project entropia and they both work. There's not many people around me maybe 2 or 3 . somtimes they move a little then stop, so yea it seems to be a connection thing but my other games and mozilla are fine.

Depending on how crowded the Help Island you're on is.. That could be the main cause. It already doesn't sound like a connection problem. So what's left is probably just a laggy server. I think it's under World >> Lag Meter, or is it View.... I dunno... But bring up the Lag Meter and check for yellow/red lights... That'll be a loosely believable clue to where your problem is. (^_^)y

I'm 1 zone out of the help island now. first time i tried to log in to check what u said I just kept walking. second time i couldnt walk. But i did find the lag meter. client and server were green but network was red. It says connection ping time is over 600ms possible bad connection or file sharing app. I'm not running a file sharing app.

Heh... I love automated troubleshootig. </sarcasm>
Yeah... Ignore the "suggestions" that the lag meter offers, they're pretty dumb. But, it may be that that your internets are throttled by something. Either by something on your end, your ISP, or something as silly as a bad route to the SL servers. This is bad advice, I personally had that as an issue to start, and I went to a fixed-forwarded port through my router to solve it. (^_^)y

I have no idea what a "fixed-forwarded port" is. I have a cable modem that comcast gave to me. I tried lowering the graphic options and network settings but it didnt help. Ant way this could be my graphic drivers? I mean i doubt it but i don't know what to do.

Ah.. You're not behind a router then... Well... That's good and bad, but it shouldn't directly be the cause of your SL woes, unless your PC is loaded with spyware. (^_^)
Now... A couple months ago I was having EPIC problems with SL over Comcast even though other services worked fine. It turned out to be caused by the cable splitters being upgraded at the time and all the open connections were causing RF problems that wouldn't kill my connection, but ruin it's ability to maintain a descent stream of data. (^_^)
Really... Now... It might be a good idea to try running some bandwidth tests and call a Comcast tech in about a possibly slow connection. SL is a VERY heavy load on an internet connection, and that just as well may be the cause. (^_^)y

Ran 2 tests and got 826kps and 991. It wouldnt surprise me if it had somthing to do with comcast, i mean there fast when they work...IF THEY WORK! Reinstalled but it didnt help lol. Ran adware a week ago, so thats probably not it, there were just cookies and im sure it'd be thew same if a ran it now.

Your speeds you reported should let you move around but they certainly are not ideal. But that ping time is attrocious. Try resetting your router and modem. And I want to ask if you are using any anonymous surfing software............those route you through many different servers to get to your final destination increasing the ping times greatly.

I resseted modem, and i'm not using anonymous software. Latly I log in, my clothes load an i can move for like 25seconds but then I just keep going in whatever was the last direction.

Are you using a wireless connection to your router and/or modem? If so, try a wired connection.

I'm not on a wireless, but there is a laptop that shares this connection.
