"Arrow key" move commands get stuck

I haven't run into anyone else with this problem. When I use the arrow keys to turn left or right (and frequently when I walk ahead or backwards), I just keep going and going. When I'm stuck in that "loop", I can't select anything in world or even activate the drop-down menus (so I can't teleport to see if that would help). Sometimes, if I walk into a wall and hit "esc" many times, it gives me a reprieve, but it's not dependable. My only solution is to log and restart in the last location and try to do everything with camera rather than moving at all. It's dizzying.

I've tried the Nicholaz viewer as well as the SL standard but seen no difference. For a while, the problem was intermittent, but now it's constant. I don't have the "sticky arrow key" problem with any other application, though (perhaps a completely unrelated problem), I've lately noticed while typing that my cursor develops a mind of its own and will sometimes spontaneously backspace several places and then re-paste the word I've just typed. If anyone has ideas about that too, I'm all ears.

I'm running Vista Home Premium, NVidia GeForce 8600 card. Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you take off all scripted attachments, does it still happen? (A flaky network connection to SL can cause similar problems too, FWIW.)

Scripted attachments?

I detached everything - HUD, AO, etc. Still happens without relief.

Good idea, though.

Could be sim lag, too. Do you see the problem in different regions?

Also, you using a wireless network at home?

I'm always seeing the problem. Everywhere. No exceptions.

And yes, I am using a wireless network. Pretty good bandwidth. Never had problems before, but what do you think?

Power off all your network gear for a few minutes and see if that helps..

Make sure your keyboard is firmly locked in the plugged-in position

Update on things I have tried
06-08-2008 15:08
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Here are the things I have tried, without results:

(1) I bounced the modem and checked my bandwidth which is very good.
(2) I tried the NVIDIA Omega driver for my video card, because some say that it works better for gaming. However, SL considers it incompatible, so I reinstalled the latest OEM driver.
(3) The keyboard isn't a problem -- I'm working on a (very powerful) laptop with a recently replaced keyboard.
(4) It is unrelated to sim lag, since it happens everywhere, every time.
(5) I tried removing all scripted attachments.
(6) I double-checked whether it was just client-side, but it turns out everyone else sees me spinning uncontrollably or walking determinedly up walls without being able to stop.

Any other thoughts? Please . . .

/me still suspects wireless. Did you power cycle ALL your network gear?

Also, check the stats bar (ctrl-shift-1) and see what your packet loss is like.
