My build + L$4000 of grouped items dissapeared on rez

On April 09, 2008, I had picked up my build from the sim Cynthos dAlliez to place it on my friend's land in Gearworks (sim). However, when I went to put it down, nothing rezzed. This build was very special to me and included a lot of poseballs and furniture that cost me upwards of L$5000 total. I've cleared my cache, relogged, search inventory everywhere, even checked inside my attached hud and body items to make sure I didnt drag it into one of them.

What to do? I submitted a ticket, but since I'm not a premium member I guess im not worth it to get this resolved (see below).

Hello!

You did not select that ticket type, so the ticket will not be reviewed.

If your issue is one of the ones we offer support to, please submit another ticket with the information corrected.

Thanks!

Can anyone help me? The build meant a lot to me and I'd REALLY hate to have ot buy all my furniture and poseballs again.

Here's the solution:

Post a ticket in the basica accounts/special quest bit. Like they told you to. Just maybe.

Noone here can actually help you, we're not that powerful (Would be cool though)

And if someone on premium was willing to put in a support ticket FOR you, I've a feeling that they'd just be told that you need to put in a ticket. In the right category.

Hi Rhyxali, welcome to the forums. It's a long shot, but if you haven't already, do check your inventory, particularly the "Objects" and "Lost and Found" folders for "coalesced" objects.

Apologies if you know this already: when land returns objects to you, it bundles them all together into one bundle, and names that bundle with the name from an arbitrarily chosen object from within it ... so your entire build could be in your inventory in one object named "Object" or "Pose Stand". In your inventory, coalesced objects have an icon that looks like a little stack of boxes, as opposed to just one box. When rezzed, a coalesced object will rez everything in it, all in the same physical relationship that they were originally. Therefore it is wise to rez coalesced things a bit in the air, with an edit window already open (ctrl-3), so that all the objects are automatically selected and can be moved as one unit.

If, on the other hand, your build is truly gone, then you should search the knowledge base for "inventory loss" and follow the steps there. Best luck!

I appreciate your help, but these are thing I've already tried. When I put my 'grouped' build down on the land it just didnt rez. I don't even think it made the rez noise, it just felt as if the sim had eaten it. Not to mention the prim count on the land was unchanged afterwards as well. Another thing: the sim wasn't even lagging.

The same thing happened to me recently, on the 4th April, I put in a support ticket and not heard anything since.
But it looks like everything is lost never to be seen again. Its so annoying when things that cost a lot of money are no copy and as in this instance just disappeared.

Agreed, this is the first time this has happened to me since I started playing SL in 2005 and it just had to be something grouped + no copy + loaded with expensive stuff :s

Maybe some griefer crashed the sim on you and it wasn't in the saved simstate. There are a lot of real dirtbag griefers in SL, you know.

Have you, just as an example, maybe really, really, really annoyed a bunch of different people over the last year or so?

Seen this before and had it happen in various ways,

If you rez a object, and sim crash about a few min later, sim does not save your object properly, but it IS removed from your inventory instant you drop it if its no-copy, and sim will not save your prim straight away so about i dont know time 3 min? after you rez, if you crash you risk loosing it as sim never got to save.

Huge flaw there, yes i had this happen alot, so i never never rez a no-copy in a sim i dont trust anymore, nor will i buy any no-copy objects be it prims or clothes/skins anymore, i dont trust SL to keep my inventory unless i can have several copies.

But then again we get "missing from database" to often, heck i just lost 1 object (1 prim!) i made 6 days ago, now its "gone" from my inventory, quite reliable isnt it.

- rez , wait wait wait, nothing not even editing something but object sure isnt in sim or my inventory anymore

- rez , sim error "cannot rez object , saved back to inventory" something something, and no its gone

- rez, object went offworld , ok then it should be in my lost and found or something nope gone

my favorite way to loose object , unlink prims, boom they went offworld even tho im standing middle of a sim, some prims came into lost and found, half was gone.

Yeh i never saw those again and im about 35k~ lost in lindens worth over the time by now, report it?, havnt even seen a reply to ONE over the years, fair enough early years then you could actually just talk to a Linden straight to their avatar and they would come to you or other way, now? dont see anyone.

Pst im a nonpaying customer, guess thats why :P oh, nm seems the ones paying for SL dont get much help either.

Also a quick tip, if you pick up prims, do not rerez it after a long time, it doesnt save fast enough as i tend to wait least 10~30min before i dare rerez something that is nocopy, you end up loosing alot on rare occasions if you rez it quickly after you picked it up.

This goes for hud/attached prims to, edit those, dettach, attach, it can revert to old state before you edited it, course if sim crash if you edited any of those, it always reverts back along with any scripts in it.

Rhyxali and Thilli, the bug for this has been re-opened (this problem was huge in mid-2007, but had died down and it's bug was closed).

It would probably help if you posted comments to the bug saying that you've had this happen lately.

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-516

If you've never used Jira, here's some simple instruction:

1. Go to the link above. It takes you directly to the bug report for this problem.

2. Hit the small login button in the upper right, and login using your regular SL login.

3. Look on the menu on the far left. In the last section, Operations, you will see a link to "Comment on this issue". Do that - mention the date (approximately) that you had this happen, whether the items included nocopy items (that's important), and whether the prims showed up in your parcel prim count, if you know. Also, it would be helpful to know whether the prims were "ghosted" ... that is, you can climb into or run into them, even if they are invisible.

4. You may also want to vote for the issue ... same menu on the left, a little lower down you will see the "Vote for it" link.

Yeah... Jira dont get me started :o, rrh dont get me wrong least theres a place to post these, but very very few ever get a real fix, most just get a "workaround" instead, and "resolved" never last long, heres on exsample;

BBCode in this forum disabled ,since 28-may-2007, this issue showed up on jira about 09.jun.07 , they still wont ?, cant fix this simple nuisance, thats a less then 5 min job to do, i havnt seen a forum missing working tags that long in any other forum i ever.

Guess they are still "upgrading" forum huh, only "fix" for this , use greasemonkey/script or [img]instead of , and wysiwyg editor gone missing so making colors and other things is like going back to manually editing them.
