I used to play SL on this PC befor.. its running Vista 64 bit Quad Proc and 4 gig ram ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics card.
Ok now the problem I log in and instant crash or sometimes I can walk around for about 10-20 mins and explore then crash just SL crashes. I was forced to download a new viewer and im not sure but I think the new viewer is the problem seeing as nothing has really changed on this PC, since the last time I played.. Any help with this would be wonderful. thanks

Exactly my problem too

This is infuriating, that's exactly what happens to me! It worked relatively fine prior to the update, it'd crash every now and then but that was only like maybe once a day if even that! Now, since I updated (last night) I've crashed every time I log in, either seconds after logging in, or a few minutes. I cleaned my cache and that worked for all of five minutes before I crashed again. I'm also running Windows Vista, and I've read in another thread that it could be what the problem is. I wouldn't find it hard to beleive as Vista has already screwed up a number of games I used to play.
There has got to be a solution to this!

Hii Papii right click the link on your desktop.................drop down window click properties. In this window you should see a tab at the top called compatibilty.........open the tab then you will see a box to click " run in compatibilty mode for XP service pack 2" or something similar

I have just installed Second Life for the first time ever. I downloaded the instal from the site. I open it and get a blank screen. Program Not Responding. I have tried rebooting and try again but still it just sits and spins. I guess I am not mean to play this one.

Is there anymore word on this???
I am suddenly haveing the same problem. As soon as it Almost has me logged in I crash. Never ever had any problems on this computer, then forced to download new viewer, seemed to work "OK" but with more freezing and crashing. Now I can not log on at all.
Have unistalled and reinstalled, have cleared cache, have unplugged router.... had changed to the run as xp pack 2 as instructed in this thread. Nothing!!!!

Go back to an older ATI driver. Seriously, I have the 8.7 catalyst driver for the 2400 and I refuse to update it. Every time I do, SL becomes crashtastic.

I've had no problems until this viewer came in. Now I can't even log in, it crashes while starting up. I miss being able to chat with my friends.
