So i used to play SL, then i moved, stopped playing for a bit, changed my isp from cable inernet to DSL.

Issue:
Upon logging in with my original char, everything goes through, including network handshake, but right in the middle of that process i get this error:

"We're having trouble connecting. There may be a problem with your internet connection or the second life servers."

and i've been downloading like a mofo all day, i know i have a stable connection.

it gives me the option to teleport home, and when i do i get the error:

"You have been disconnected from the region you were in."

and then just terminates the application

Upon attempting to connect with my new char, it gives the same first initial error then after several reattempts, states "login failed to connect with simulator."

My bandwidth is 1107.2 kbps
may this be the issue?

Because i know...

a) It is not my computer, i have played it before, plus i re-installed it to make sure there were no glitches, ran all the updates. I also disabled all possible interferences - firewalls, antivirus, even though i shouldn't have to... just to see if it was causing possible conflict

b) It is not my login, plus i tried to make a new account just to possibly rule out any glitches with my old login, but received the same error.

I submitted a ticket, and linden gave me a link that routed me back to the same place i was at that didn't solve my problem and had the option to create a ticket below... i had a feeling they would do this though... lol.

yep tried that already, it just hasn't worked since i hooked up dsl, period... :(

Try resetting the router, if there is one. Or resetting the cable modem.

Worked for me last time i had a problem like that.

If there's a router in the mix definitely try resetting it (unplug it for 2 to 5 mins and plug back in)........same for your modem. If that does not work then there are two more things to try. First, call your ISP to see if they are having issues or if they throttle applications such as SL (huge bandwidth comsumers). If you are renting or leasing the modem from them maybe you could exchange it for another. And call the manufacturer of your router (if you have one).........they can walk you through setting up the router if it's the problem.

Check to see that you are actually getting that meg of download speed you mentioned. You need close to 750kps minimum for SL to run.

You say you have been downloading a lot. Are you by any chance running a program designed to hide your ip address from the RIAA? I don't recall the exact name of the particular program but I know that at least one them will interfere with SL.

It's possible that the portforward.com site might be of some use.

Have you really checked that the needed ports are open properly for both tcp and upd?
