Finally made enough of a mark on the world that i have my own land...(I'm so excited)....My first experience with land editting however was somewhat frustrating....

The tools for land editting seem (clumsy I guess is the word)....there isn't really a way to get it to do exactly what you want....I finally got a square of land above water so i'm pleased enough...but the biggest problem ii'm having is flattening the land out...I hold the flatten tool in one spot for over a minute and there still jagged edges running all through the ground...I can't seem to flatten it out no matter what i do...(if anyone has a tip, i'm all ears hehehe)

Is this a common problem ? or should i be trying to locate what the problem is for me? (maybe i have some special circumstances preventing flat ground hehehe...

Well..back to construction 8)

it is a pita from my experience, but what works for me is to have a section at the level i want it at then keeping most of the sellector tool on theat area, and holding the mouse button down then moving the mouse in small circles keeping most of the select tool on the level area of desired height.

If anyone else has an easier way, Im definatly all ears cus that is a pain to do also

i do that and I guess the average height of the land is the same but there are peaks and valleys....not sure how the tool works but i think it's going more on an average height rather than smoothing the faces...I just have jagged ground hehe...and i'm noticing it a lot more on other people's properties after my experience so I know i'm not totally alone 8) hehe

Rhetorical question

Does the land actually need to be flat for you to build?

Nah, doesn't have to be level to build...but after spending time building at buttonpusher's, i tend to agree that a dirt floor is the best way to go so you can drag-select a bunch of items without selecting the floor...so for looks it's nice for the floor to be even 8)
