I Cant Get On Anymore!!!!!

ummmm can someone please help me? ive only been playing for like a week now, and starting today i can't get on it anymore!! when i click on the icon to go on, the screeen goes black and all i can see is my mouse pointer...i thought maybee it was just taking a long time to load this tim, but i let it sit for like 3 hours and still the same thing! i could play just fine yester day, and the day before ect... but it randomly wont let me play anymore. I've tried it like 10 times now and it does the same thing every time and i have to restart my comp to get it to work! someone plz help me!!!!!!!!!!

The issue is with your video card as it is with me. SecondLife does not support certain video cards and you will most likely need to upgrade. Another thing you can do in the mean time is to reduce your draw distance. That will help to stabalize your system until you can upgrade your video card.

and as for the video card, i just upgraded, i got an nVidia GeForce FX 5700, and it was working just fine a couple yesterday, like i said, but it doesnt work anymore

Did SL work correctly after you had the new video card installed, or has it only stopped working since you've installed it? I assume you've downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Nvidia?

If that doesn't work, what make and model of power supply do you have? It's possible your card isn't getting a good enough supply of power.

I figured it out, whenever i restart my comp it switches back to 16-bit color (??why??) so i have to turn it to 32-bit for it to work. thank you ver much for the help, Cathrine and Alexander.

Yes, that seems like kind of a weird deal. What kind of monitor do you have? What kind of monitor does WINDOWS think you have?
