Actually, the GF4 is the worst piece in that equation. The MX cards are horribly named. I have a GeForce2 Ti, and your card is marginally better in most areas. Geforce3 Ti's are actually faster in most cases.

That said, I know Kenny Wirehead has a setup similar to yours, and is getting poor framerates. He's also turned all the settings on. When he finds a good balance in settings, I'll see if he can post it here.

D'oh! I forgot. Anisotropic filtering is the first thing I would turn off, followed by Local Tree Lightning, Glows Around Lights, and if nothing else works, Local Lighting.

Graphics Card Mode

Getting the grahpics card mode out of PCI and into AGP has been the biggest framerate improver. See the Knowledge Base>Technical Support> Slow Frame Rates for more details.

This should help your other games also.

I checked with Kenny. He agreed that there's no way a GF4 MX card should be running anisotropic filtering.

You should get a significant boost just by turning that off.

Titanium cards (3 or 4 or higher) don't have a problem, but the MX line might as well be called a Geforce2. I know, I still have one. ;^)
