Earlier tonight I had some kind of power surge (the UPS started screaming), shut down SL (without crashing), and got everything back up again. When trying to start SL the first couple times, I didn't have internet access. I noticed right away though, that the RC viewer looked different. I have my settings set to the "silver" skin, and this one was the default blue. The "remember me" checkbox was checked also, which had always been unchecked before. When I got logged in, I saw that apparently my computer thinks I didn't even have the RC before--I'm getting all the "newb" popups and all the debug settings, preferences settings, etc are back to the default.
Isn't there a file somewhere that would tell me the old preferences? I see a few things under the RC in program files... It seems to me that maybe some file got corrupted but I dunno how to 'refresh' it or make my computer see what it needs to see.

It looks like your settings.xml file got discarded. If so, it will have been overwritten by now.
You can make a copy of it once you get it set back up. * XP: use the Windows Tools Menu to Show Hidden Files and Folders. * Vista: use the Windows Folder Options to Show Hidden Files and Folders. * XP: go to C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\Application Data\SecondLife * Vista: go to C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\user_settings * Mac: go to Mac OSX: /Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/user_settings _____________________

 Well, I found that at least the release candidate settings file was the only one affected! so i still have the regular viewer with all the old settings. \o/ less work for me, ha. Now I'll be grabbing a copy of BOTH settings files. ty again. _____________________
