Nothing happens when I try. The window doesnt drop down. I can receive an IM but there isno way to respond. I can do everything else, everything works except sending an IM

Just to be clear, are you saying you click on the Communicate button at the bottom of the screen, and then nothing happens?
If so, maybe the window is opening off screen. Are you running SL in a window or full screen? If it's full screen, what resolution?

I can communicate in local chat without a problem. It is only the IM. When ssome sends an IM I can read it fine but cant answer. If I right on an avi the circle menu shows but when I click on "send pm" nothing happens. I have been on SL almost 2 yrs and this is the only problem I ever had
