Is it me or have others had problems crashing and not knowing it because everything stays the same,except u dont get replies to your IMs,its only recently happened with this new version

Probably a dropped connection to the sim. Bring up the mini map the next time it happens, and see if it has turned red, that's all the indication the viewer will give you for that.

It's happened a few times, the first time I got a bit creeped out before realising it.  Sometimes I get a "red-map warning", other times I just notice the mini-map has gone red after a moment of silence.. |

yesterday on a usually safe sim, I crashed every 5 minutes for half an hour, sometimes getting the red mini map, first time it's happened to me in a year.
