Where's the sound?

I just logged into SL today, and I hear nothing. No sounds, not even when typing. I checked my spekaers, and they are not the problem.

Is anyone else having this problem today? I have "Play streaming audio when available" checked on, so I should be hearing things.

Thanks for any advice.

I read reports that Preferences seem to be messed up today. So check your sound Preferences (menu) and your sound settings in the right bottom corner.

I did that. All seems to be fine there. Just got an IM from a friend of mine. He's having the same problem. I guess I'll just try it another day. *sigh*. Guess it's all part of life....Second Life. LOL!

At least I know it's not my sound card. Whew! LOL!

OK. Fixed my problem. I have a Vista computer that had received a SP1 update. I think that is what broke my sound in SL. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Release Candidate. That seems to have fixed it. I have to say, though, I guess I'll just have to get used to the choppiness that I experience in SL. Seems to be the fate of anyone who runs SL with a Vista machine. At least I can hear myself type now and can hear the sounds I have on the land. lol!

New update. Just downloaded the most recent, "new and improved", "better than ever" update.....No sound again. What's a body to do to get sound in this place?
