From: someone Originally posted by Thai Greenacre yes I have downloaded about 10 times now and it wont work. Please tell us: - The entire error message - Your Operating System - Some general specs about your machine.
You are more likely to get good help if others have that information.

I get that all the time too - it gives an error about corrupt or incomplete download. I usually have to download the new client 6 or 7 times. Sometimes putting it in differnt spot helps. The size never changes so its not really a incomplete I guess. keep trying thats what I do

New Install

Ok so the error is a NSIS error and says install failed due to incomplete download, failing disk or possible coruption. I have downloaded it abot 10 times now. Did a complete uninstall and tried again. I ran a scan disk defrag and 3 complete virus scanc. Still nothing. You guys just make sure those bloody vikings don't come and tear Castle Hunter apart before I get back.

More info it actualy said install verification failure. It also says I can try to force install using the /NRC command line switch. At least I feel like someone is out there now spent all weekend trying to get a hold of some help.

Gateway PIV 2 ghz 256 MB Ram 20 Gig harddrive about 16 still free. Cabel connection. Norton firewall just updated. SOundmax intergrated digital audio(drivers fine) NVIDIA Gforce4 MX 40. Having no other issues tried with a couple of video games no probs. I am not on a Network so no issue there. I spend 10 hours a day helping our members to identify and get rid of viruses. So I doubt I have one. Just incase however I made sure all my dat files were up to date and ran 2 virus scans. I hope that's enough if you need anything else let me know.

Have you tried disabling your firewall before the installation?

To be more specific for anyone else that may be having similar issues: it was his firewall. I guess the installer tries to make a connection back to Linden labs to verify the install file. Most firewalls will block this kind of activity. For those that just keep trying til it works and it eventually does, my guess is that the install file just picks a random port and that given enough tries it eventually guesses one that your firewall says ok to.
This should only bother people with software firewalls since most hardware ones don't block outgoing traffic at all.
