sorry if i'm a little technically stupid.
i have been using the sl viewer 1.23 for a few days after a time away.
suddenly last night i had a crash and now sl viewer does not come up. i get a message that its initializing textures, then it just dissappears.
i tried de-installing and re-installing but no change.
can someone tell me if there is some data i might have lingering that i need to purge?
or a simple third party viewer that i might try?
thanks so much!
kisses!

If you get the login page you can try clearing your cache, closing the page and relaunching SL (maybe wait a minute or so before relaunching). If that does not work go back to your preferrences and on the network tab (where you clear your cache) take note of the location of the cache on your hard drive. Close again and navigate to that location and manually delete that folder (the entire thing........it will be rebuilt when you launch SL again).
If none of that works we need a little more information. Computer specs are always nice. Plus exactly what crashed..........your system or just Second Life? Any offers of help or suggestions, at this point, are really just shots in the dark without something to go on.

thanks sooo much for getting back to me!
no, i'm afraid that i never get to the login... i get a message that the cache is being initialized and then it dissappears.
my brother is able to help me a bit and he has shown me that the secondlife.exe process just dissappears at this point.

I had a similar problem once. For a while, the viewer would start to launch, and then would just disappear after a minute without a trace, every time.
I never did manage to fix it. I simply worked around it by using the release candidate, which was not suffering from the problem. When that RC went main, I installed it over the previous main viewer, and it continued to work. I still don't know what caused the previous one to misbehave like that. I'm just glad it's done and gone.
