I recieved this email today:
From: Liaison.Dan.Linden@users.lindenlab.com <Liaison.Dan.Linden@users.lindenlab.com>
Subject: Message From Second Life
Time: Saturday, March 08, 2003 8:17 PM
Message: You have a special message waiting for you in Second Life.
I got the message ~9:15 or so and logged into second life. I couldn't find the message. I had no IM's and the only 'normal' chat I had was all the people who were online. (I used ctrl-H to make sure). I don't know if I am missing something or this is a bug or what. Thanks.

You ---should--- have had an IM from him.
Something funky is going on there. I used to get an email every day from the voting booth, telling me how many votes I got the previous day. Those emails stopped coming a week or two ago.

I thought I should have an IM from him too, so that was the first thing I checked, but no IM. I am still getting voting booth emails.

Interesting, I never have had an email.. maybe it has to do with having IMs forwarded to email when you are off?

From: someone Originally posted by Misnomer Jones Interesting, I never have had an email.. maybe it has to do with having IMs forwarded to email when you are off? Yes. Interestingly enough, it was about (exactly?) when that checkbox was added to the client (and I did enable it and tell it my email address) that I stopped getting the emails.

I never touched that box. But I think I remember seeing my email in it.

That "special message" usually indicates an item that was given to you, but somehow you were "offline" and did not receive it. Usually the next time you log in, you are given the option to accept the item.

Maybe just a coincidence
03-09-2003 10:42
I have had two voting stations set up for awhile now, and have received emails every day on number of votes. I set up a third station at the Gender Bender party, the next day I did not get the emails. Last night I removed the "special" station and today I received the emails again.
Maybe it has something to do with the nuumber of stations you have.
Just a thought.

I've had three booths up for a while now. Was getting three emails every day telling me how many votes I'd received.
Then along came the option to have IMs sent to email when not online. I checked that, and I put in a -different- email address than the one the emails had been coming to. I'm pretty sure I haven't received one of those emails since then.

Seeing as how we are talking about voting stations....
03-09-2003 11:55
OK....I have an old voting station with lets say 4 votes on it. Being the good SL'er I am, I obtain a new station and replace my old one.
Do I loose the 4 votes that was on the old station, or do they transfer to the new station ??

You lose the 4 votes if you delete the booth before it sends its vote information to LL.
What I did was bury my old one in the ground, almost but not quite completely underground, just before I left last night. At the same time I put up a new booth.
Tonight I'll delete the old one.

Yea that will work with the old ones, but not the new ones. The new ones reset when you move them.
