Moving large objects around sometimes causes primitives to lose their alignment. With attachments it is very pronounced - even simple things like studded bracelets look totally haggard after they've been worn a while. I rez a fresh copy of my jetpack just about weekly because of this issue. One of my associates has a face mask (three primitives maybe?) that keeps moving around on her face.
This problem has been around since before I joined in early May, and many of us are anxious to see it resolved. Linden Lab hasn't said much about it, if anything at all. Can we get some kind of update?

Hmmm... I tried to reproduce this using linked collections of non-trivially rotated assymetrical objects but couldn't get it to happen for me.
Granted, I was running it on the 1.1 codebase so I'll go back and try it on the 1.0.
Nevertheless, could someone please give me a copy of an attachment that exhibits this problem? As soon as I have a reproducible case it should be really easy to squash this bug. Thanks.

Andrew, if you're online after 12:30ish CST I can provide a couple. If you want more information on how this occurs, it is caused by crossing sim borders with the attachments. The problem occurs to extreme extents if you run into the bug where your attachments don't make it into the next sim, and your get stuck at -2, 10 or such at the old sim, and have to relog. If you encounter this scenario, the attachment bits will generally be skewed a visible amount. However, even without this, crossing a sim border repeatedly (at high speeds usually helps) will cause the item to skew prematurely. Normally it takes a month or so of normal travel for the skew to be visible otherwise.

Ok, I've got an attachment that supposedly suffers from this bug. I'll try to reproduce and fix.

If you hunt down Lynnix Muse, she makes a set of Satyr Horns I wear. She would know the ones if you mention my name. They suffer from this very badly. The cone tip pieces on the end of the torii like to skew way off center.

I can give you a copy of my jetpack that's screwy, if you need more data. The drift seems to be dependent on avatar speed during the crossing. A friend of mine has a spiked bracelet that's taken a couple months to get out of whack, but my jetpack (usually going quite fast during the crossing) usually de-aligns much more quickly.

Ok fixed this one using my own version of Lynnix's Satyr Horns. Figuring out the recipie for reproduction was more than half the battle.
Basically, the relative positions of linked objects may drift toward zero up to 1/10th of a millimeter about every other time they cross a sim boundary (and each logout/login cycle for attachments that are currently worn). Since attachments cross region boundaries the most it was first noticed there.
This is going to be included in the 1.0.6 update, but I'm not sure when that update will be released.
In the meantime, to avoid this bug from permenantly modifying your current attachments you should make a backup of the pristine attachment, then wear a disposable copy that you can delete after it starts to visibly drift.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for the help on tracking this down.

So... Was this fixed yesterday, or do you mean 1.0.7, or will it have to wait until 1.1?? enquiring minds and all that...

Ooops, sorry, I've lost count of where we are. I meant 1.0.7.
