Hi guys

I really hope somebody can help me. Over the last couple of months i have been having a problem with Multimedia on my system. When ever a quicktime video trys to play a video my whole internet connection drops.
This happens on both my laptop and my house mates PC . Other videos play ok its just the quicktime videos.

The PC is directly connected to the internet in the house and is a 20mbit line. The laptop runs off wireless.

I have uninstalled and installed both quicktime and SL but still no luck . Any help would be appriciated .

Thanks

What version of SL are you using? (the version number)

What version of Quicktime?

Does QT work outside of SL?

What kind of internet service do you have?

Is there a router in the process?

I have the same problem.

How the heck does quicktime have access to our network device and connection? That's way out of what they should be able to control/touch or even get info from.

I also lose my complete internet, not just SL, when I play a quicktime movie in sl.
I don't know if it happens outside SL, since quicktime isn't as much used as people like to believe. (I use .avi and .mkv files, not .mov).

But anyway, that's really stupid, apple sucks D:

Latest version of Quicktime
There is a router, linksys wireless G somethingsomething
Decently Normal Cable ISP, but all this shouldn't matter, the problem is quicktime.

It's probably not Quicktime, SL, your ISP nor you computer(s). The likely culprit is your router. Call their tech support and get them to walk you through configuring your settings.

I had a similar problem a few months ago with my Linksys 430N router. A little more severe in that it would randomly drop my connection or refuse to connect no matter what I was doing at the time.......but the tech at Linksys helped me set up my router. I haven't had a single incidence since.
