Getting a GM's help in-game seems to be impossible. They dodge this question and I'm starting to get PISSED.

I signed up for the Premiere Membership, and I was supposed to receive, when I logged in the first time, L$1000 and free land.

I loged in with L$250 and no land. This is false advertising and no matter how cool this thing is, that's still wrong and unethical to advertise something, and then not deliver it.

Give it a little time.

You started off with a trial account, which you then upgraded to a premium account. It takes a little while for your account upgrade to cycle through the system for you to get your additional money.

As for land, all you have to do is go to the "World of Second Life" forum, find the "Land for the Landless" thread (the first one) and put in a formal request.

Is the "Land for the Landless" land the land that is supposed to come free with the Premiere account? Or just a freebie handout to anyone without land?

You dont get free land with the premium account. It is a common misconception, your not alone in thinking that. Perhaps a look at the language on sign up page is in order.

On basic account, you can not own land.

Premium account comes with the right to own up to 512m of land. Your allotment is covered, you still have to acquire the land. With the "land for the landless" program, you sign up and the Lindens will find you a 512m plot for the cost of L$512.

You dont have to go this route, you can search for land on your own if you like. Be prepared to pay anywhere from L$3 - L$7 a meter for land. Land is often priced higher than this. The landless program is a good way to get started out cheaply.

There is often confusion about signing up for premium account and your free trial. You will get your seven day trial before your actual account kicks in, if you signed up for both at the same time. Once your trial is over, you will get your L$1000 for signing up.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion, if not, please ask again specifically and we will try to help you out completely.

Premiere Membership grants you a land allowance, it does not assign you a parcel - you still have to purchase or otherwise acquire a plot of land. The above mentioned "Land for the Landless" program is probably the easiest and cheapest way to purchase land.

As I've learned today, you normally pay $5US/month for 512m2 of land. If you get the premium package, they waive the $5US/month for the land and you get it for free. But that is just the ABILITY to own the land, you still have to buy/acquire it on your own.
