I've had frequent graphics freeze/crashing problems since upgrading to a better graphics card (8600GT) on my XP system.
After ruling out drivers, temperature, power supply, etc. and trying several other things tinkering around, I disabled AMD Cool'n'Quiet, and so far, have not had any crashes since doing so. You can disable Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS, or by changing the Display Properties -> Screen Saver -> Power -> Power Scheme from "Minimal Power Management" to "Home/Office Desk".
Anyone else with unexplained crashing problems want to try this, and see if it makes a difference for you....?

well even with the changed settings i still get the crashes, all though i have to admit it appears that for a few hours i dont crash then all of a sudden i well start crashing like crazy, this lead me to think it might be a cooling problem but after checking the temp, all seems to be okay there.
