Strange issue with NVidia based graphical card

I am experiencing some strange thing in the client, or viewer as it been called here. I am running SL on XP 64bits OS, NVidia 8800 GTS 512 mb, AMD Athlon 6400+ 64bits dual core with 4 gig memory. I am noticing that the textures, wheter skin, clothes or whatever on my avatar are fluxing or becoming blurry. Strange that I am seeing this only happening on my avatar alone and not on the other avatars in my neighbourhood. Some of my friends are saying that it's normal because I am running the stuff on a NVidia based graphical card, others are telling me that it's caused by my internet connection (which might be weird, as my bandwidth is constantly between 500 and 1000 kps, sometimes 1500 kps).

What might be the problem that is causing this and most important, what is the solution to this problem

A couple things to try. Rebake your textures.........alt, control, plus r (alternately get your advanced menu by alt, control d and going to character then clicking "rebake textures";). And clear your cache then relog if that does not work for you.

I don't think it's a graphics card issue since everything else is rezzing properly for you. Nor do I think it's a connection problem. It appears to be some corrupted texture (probably in your cache folder) file causing your viewer to constantly request the LL servers to resend your avatar textures. Rebaking could clear that up for you.........clearing your cache would too if that is the problem.

I have the same problem, too, and it's VERY frustrating -- especially when you're trying on new clothes or creating a new outfit. It goes in and out for no apparent reason.

Rebaking and clearing cache ain't resolving the problem. I have tried already these two options. Anyway, thanks for your advice ;)

This is not an issue with SL or with the Cards themselves. This is an issue with the latest 3 driver releases from Nvidia.

Roll back your drivers to 175.19 and the problem will disappear..

I have not been able to troubleshoot this enough to figure out why this is happening though, so this is a bandaid fix.

Hope that helps. :)

Hmm, I could accept that as a solution, but I don't have the 175.19 drivers on my system. Also this problem is there too with the older drivers of Nvidia like 169.06. See, I am running sl now on a freshly, clean installed OS, with all latest drivers of my equipement.

You can get the 175.19 driver from nVidia.

175.19 is a solution, not a problem.

A fresh install of your operating system does not install drivers released after the installation CD was produced. The drivers contained on installation disks are often a year or more old.

Disable palletized textures as soon as you login. CTRL-ALT-F7.

Try the Release Candidate viewer and see if you still have the problem.

ok, tried with proposed driver, and the problem is staying. Avatar texture is fluxing or getting blurry while other avatars are staying sharp. Issue is certainly not driver related. Any more suggestions ?

That "fluxing or blurring" is the viewer rebaking your textures constantly (evidently from your discription of the problem). Try doing a rebake from either your advanced menu (character......then rebake textures) or ALT>CONTROL> R. That might force the viewer to settle on the rebaked textures.

About all I can come up with if the issue is not graphics driver related.
