o.O

An AZERTY keyboard? Why do you not have a QWERTY one?

Maybe he's not US-centric?

It would surprise you how much something like a keyboard can differ from place to place. France uses AZERTY, among a few others. In Portugal, we used to use HCESAR until the computer revolution pushed QWERTY in our face :)
If you want to use question marks, configure your keyboard for US English in the Control Panel, and then press the the rightmost key in the bottom row.
You can find out more keys by looking at a picture of an american keyboard.

I use DVORAK alternatly with QWERTY, and I live in the US...

But, then, I'm odd.

Heh.

Ahh, DVORAK, the Esperanto of keyboards.

The Lindens really need to improve their keyboard support. It's completely silly that they even made it to 1.0 supporting only QWERTY/US 101-105-key keyboards. It seems to me that it would actually have been harder for them to implement it the way they did instead of doing it properly to being with.

This should be one of the things they work on above all else. It's stupid to leave so many of their customers limping around without punctuation.

I believe they made it this way for the sake of portability.
They could very well have used DirectX for the graphics and windows GUI controls for the inventory and menus, internet exploder to view notecards etc.
But they tried to keep it self-contained and platform-indepent as much as possible.
