I havent been able to get on to my sl avator for awhile now and i dont what eles to do. i tried sending a issue ticket but nothing ever came of it so im hopping i can get some answers and some help here finally. I havent been on SL in long time and now im finally trying to get back in to the game but when i click on the icon and try to get it to load up so i can log in and start playing nothing happens. i get this box that saids "second life is unable to run bc your video card driver did not install properly, is out of date, or are unsupported hardware. Please make sure you have the latest video card drivers and even if you do have the latest please try reinstalling them. if you continue to get this message please contact customer support".

I dont know what to do and i have tried downloading new video cards but nothing is working. SL worked just fine before when i 1st got it and now its not. i dont what to do so can someone please help me out so i can get back to my avator. i have tried everything and nothing works. i even uninstalled sl and re-installed it to see if that would work and still nothing. can someone help me put or anyone who has had this same problem tell me what to do and hoppefully tell me how i can prevent this happening again if thats possibale. Thank you.

If you will list your computer specs including your video card, we may be able to help you with some suggestions.

I sounds like you need new video drivers. If you know the manufacturer of the card or chipset you can go to their site and find the most recent for your card, download it and install it. If you don't know then on the log in page (don't log in) pull down the help menu and on the about Second Life you will get some basic computer info for your computer........copy and paste that here.

Basically this is what you need to do.

Firstly, that indicates that either you have a piece of graphics hardware that is not compatable with Second Life, OR your drivers for the card are out of date. Heres how to fix this.

You'll want to go to your computer brands website, whether it's Dell or Gateway, etc... And go into their driver download section, enter your model, or serial number, or some form of identifable information on your computer. It should then go to your available drivers for your specific hardware PROVIDED you have not changed/swapped any hardware. Then just go into the graphics section and download the driver.

If you have modified the hardware, in terms of say installing a piece of hardware you have purchased and physically put inside the case, then you will need to go to the hardware manufactorers website and go into the drivers section. Enter the specific card you have and it'll list available downloads.

If you need to find out what type of video hardware you have, there are a few different solutions to do this. One would be to right click your desktop, and go into properties or personalize (depending on windows version). Then go to the last tab, or the tab that you can change your resolution, and hit advanced. Under adapter, you should see the type of hardware you have for video. The other method would be going into device manager and look it up that way. Most of the time device manager can be reached from the control panel, or right clicking my computer, going to properties, and selecting device manager.

If you need specific help with downloading drivers, list your card and operating system (include which bit). If your unsure which operating system you have, you can view it by right clicking my computer, going to properties, and the first screen will tell you the windows edition and the system type, whether its a 32-bit operating system or a 64-bit operating system.
