Sims running bad lately??

Is it just me and everyone in my area or have the sims been running a bit bad lately?? I relogged like 5 times last night within about 4 hours. I'd be standing there, everything fine, chatting with visitors and friends then I couldn't move (except to spin and watch my legs tangle) and my av would type forever with nothing showing up. Only thing working was IM's!
When I finally gave up last night Hawthorne was just a blank space on the map that you could still fly over but nothing was showing up. ( I got to bed pretty early!!)
Lag has been like thick soup lately on various sims and it tends to be a bit annoying. It took me about 15 minutes to go half way through a sim the other night!?? (yes I'm too cheap to teleport)
