I have been running SL for over a month with no issues. I recently purchased a vonage broadband phone line. To make the phone work I have to install a phone adapter between my cable modem and my router. Now whenever i log into SL after about 5 minutes my entire internet connection locks up. I have to unplug my cable modem and reset it.
I am wondering if there is a specific port that SL uses that I may enable in my Vonage modem (actualy it is a Motorola model VT1005V)
My other system stats are:
Pentium 4 2.8b oc'd to 2939 1GB RAM ASRock P4VT8+ Motherboard 450+watt Power Supply ATI Radeon 9200 (latest drivers) WD800BB HDD Dell DVD-rom On board sound, ethernet, etc...
Any sugestions? canis187@yahoo.com

I had nothing but problems with Vonage... the modem resets randomly, killing your internet connection, and keep an eye on your billing records. They bill randomly and without warning, sometimes 4-5 days before they are supposed to.
On the technical side, I experienced the same thing you have with Vonage, but not just in SL. The internet connection would freeze up every 2-3 hours or whenever I was using a bandwidth-intensive program.
I had to bypass the Vonage modem whenever I wanted to really use the internet. Eventually, I decided the billing problems, technical issues, as well as their rude staff and a manager that said I was stupid, was too much to deal with for a $15 a month savings in phone costs, so I cancelled them, smashed up the modem I bought and sent it back to them.

Vonage between the Cable Modem and Router is a know problem. I moved mine back behind the router on a switch and haven't had a single problem since. I was having that problem you described before I moved it. I found a page somewhere in the paper documentation on how to move it.

Also, if that doesn't work (it didn't for me), you might want to try Lingo. They are a lot more affordable than even Vonage (unlimited US, Canada, & Europe calling for $19.95 a month)and so far their modem hasn't given my any of the problems that the Motorola VT-100 has given me.

Thanks for the advice, i will try moving it first, then see where that gets me. And that other service sounds... intriguing as well.

Not the Vonage modem...

Well, Tried moving the Vonage modem behind my router on its own port, still crashed. So I then completely disconnected the modem from my connection....
Guess What?
I still crash even without the vonage modem connected, so it isnt that. It must be some sort of conflict with my router, cable modem, or even, just my computer, tho when it locks up, my whole internet connection for all computers on my network crashes so i think it is most likely my cable modem because when i reset that it all comes back up.
I posted my computer stats in my first post, heres my cable modem and router: Motorola Surfboard SB5100 <-- cable modem
D-Link DI-604 <-- Router
Any advice?

Any advice? LOL that's my exact same setup! Check the firmware versions on both the modem, router and call Vonage and ask them to update the firmware on your modem if it's not up to date. (if you get the one good rep out of 100). Other than that, I don't know what to suggest.

see, thats the problem. I dont think its Vonage anymore. I completely disconnected the vonage box from my system, unpluged from power, unplugged from my router, no connection.
When i logged in I still locked up my Broad-band cable modem after about 5 minutes.
Man, I love this gme, but I think it filed for divorce from me....

I understand, I just mentioned that 'cause when you get the thing working, you need to call them to update the firmware, since it's initiated on their side.
Nevertheless, check the firmware version on the cable modem and your router.
