International Keyboard layouts?

Hello,

dunno if I'm the only German around here so far, but I have issues with my keyboard, which is pretty annoying.

The problem: Almost all special characters won't work. I'm not taling strange German characters, but even simple smiley elements like : and ) won't work - neither does the ' .

I am aware of the differences between a German and an American keyboard layout, and I can type fluently in an American layout if necessary. Problem is, to my keyboard SL doesn't respond to properly either way. Not only does that prevent me from trying to code scripts, also a simple smile or a gramatically correct "don't" rather than "dont" are inaccessible to me at the moment. :-(

Is there any known workaround? Switching to a US layout in Windows didn't help so far.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I got the same problem with a dutch keyboard. Normally I need to do a ' and a SPACE to get the '.
They made it so because then you can use the ' and " to make special characters like umlauts.
I turned the language AND layout to US. But I think if you only set the language to US it works too. You can still use your German layout then.
