I get no error dialog so i cant give that description.

I open the texture in the preview where the save as is located, I click the save as, select file name and directory then save, the directory window disappears as expected like it did save and nothing happens other than my mouse pointer having a arrow with a busy hourglass. I minimise the preview and I still have the busy mouse pointer with arrow (sorry I forgot what this is called) I let it sit for 5 mins. still no change, preview still minimised and a busy hour glass/arrow cursor. I close the preview pane and the hourglass is gone, like its done doing its thing. I then go in windows and look in the directory to find the file, and its not there. I did a search on my hard drives and still no file.

I repeated this procedure 5 times the first time, 5 times the next day, then waited a few days and tried 2 times. I still get the same results everytime.

Everytime I tried this I had no lag. Prior to trying this I had no game performance troubles each time, neither did I have any after each try so I don't think it was a lag issue. I also tried on various sims, still same results.

I hope I have been descriptive enough let me know if you have any further questions.

What drive:\path are you saving them to? (Is the drive the same one that SL is installed to?)

Are you running any kind of firewall or "internet security" program?

Try saving with a short filename to a no-spaces directory path on your main (SL installed to) drive...
try temporarily disabling firewall/net security/anti-virus protection...

That's all I can think of...

I tried downloading to My Documents/Pictures: and it worked this time. so I will continually be repeating this process to determine what the issues are. Since it was the same images left unchanged from prior, i am stumped. So for the purpose of tracking this issue down I'm going to keep doing it and noting what works and what doesnt.

Charlie,

Thanks for your persistence!

I'm guessing the issues are probably:
* file size
* whether the image is already in the Second Life cache on your hard drive (when it's already there, it will "download" really fast)
* network bandwidth
* amount of texture memory
* how many other textures are being drawn at the same time (depends on draw distance and what you're looking at)

Once we weed out all the bugs, of these, only sufficiently low network bandwidth should ever really cause download errors--and we should throw up a dialog box to report that.

Hmmm, come to think of it, the path you save to could matter--but only if you have a "limited" account on Windows NT/2000/XP.

Let me know what you find out as you experiment...

Thanks for your help!
Aaron
