For some reason I cannot log in. I keep getting the message that there may be a problem with my connection or the SL servers ... My connection is fine as I am able to get to anything else on the net, including other games ..
anyone else having this problem the past few days??

If you haven't tried turning off your entire system for a few minutes, you might try that.
Folks have been having all sorts of problems lately including inability to log in.

hey all, still cannot log in .. I have reinstalled SL thinking that might help but nope lol ... nuthin!
When I put my username & pass in, I get to the point where it says something about a "region handshake" then boom, it tells me to check my connection or that the servers are having problems .. yet, I can see there are still some 70,000 people inworld ..
any ideas would be very helpful!

A firewall may be blocking you. If you have one on your computer or router/modem you'll need to configure it to let SL through. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Firewall_Configuration

Due too pc trouble, i had to install SL on my son's computer, we recently tried win7 on that and SL ran more then fine (nice OS btw, when its finished), but its now back to XP. For some reason, i too get to the "region handshake" where it then all ends, if i try the same location twice, i get the "you have been logged out of the region" or alike and the client closes. (all firewalls turned off ) * has this been solved for you Gothic, if so how ? .

Try logging into a different location than your home. That has worked for me on occasion.

It's concievable that it could be a problem with a network card driver, or a cable.
