Hi everyone... Second Post from an SL newbie. 1.1 is looking awesome, but I'm having a problem when turning on the rippled water effect... the water turns black or disappears completely. I'm using a G-Force 5600 FX Ultra with 128 Meg. Any suggestions?

I see no water at all on my GeForce FX 5600 as well I hear the ripple effect is cool though. Clarification: If I turn on 'Rippled Water' in the preferences THEN I see no water. If it's off I see the normal boring water.

Weird, the 'ripple' effect is more like ocean waves really and shows up on a Geforce 3 Ti 200 64mb card.
Of course if I use my Geforce 4 mx the water disapears and the land turns brown.

We currently have a problem with ripple water on GeForce FX cards - there's an issue with the vertex program for water not working on it. I believe the water ripple currently works on GeForce 3, GeForce 4 (NOT MX), and ATI Radeon 9700+ cards - I don't remember if it works on Radeon 8500's or not. It's slow enough on GeForce 3's that I wouldn't recommend turning it on, though. - Doug

It's definitely not working on Radeon 9000's Even with the 3.8 drivers. It's just black water... looks like an oil spill Lordfly

It's not working with a Radeon 9100, AGP, 64MB. Up until the release on 10/13 (+/-) I was getting the black effect. After installing that release and upgrading to Catalyst 3.8, I began seeing the vanishing water problem (or maybe the water in SL just became immensely purer).

it works on my geforce 4800TI looks really good. I wouldn't say RIPPLES but more waves... so at the shore it kinda looks like real sea, exect the waves don't break but just move up and down. I like it! And it doesn't slow down a bit...

GeForce 2 GTS w/ 64MB, turning it on causes the regular flat water (and the GUI) to flash on and off rapidly. Last time I tried (during one of the September betas) I got black water that chugged at around 2FPS. I could see it was wavy on top, though...

It's also working on my GeForce4 Ti 4200 128meg card. Your right, it's more of a wave look. I actually prefer the old style water , just my opinion though Looks odd though when you look at the horizon far off for me , more like a Northern lights effect going on hehe

The Rippled Water does not work on my Creative Labs GeForce 4 (Ti 4600) card under win2k. I have tried the latest certified drivers, and the latest nvidia build drivers - makes no difference. When turned on I get no water at all.. just big empty trenches. When switched off I get the boring old water as before.

I just noticed that the ripple water option on 1.1 has been disabled for me....
Anyone else?

I've heard a few people in world actually talk about having that option unavailable for them to check. I don't believe you are the only one JonMichael.
