Hi

Can anyone help? I am logged in for 4 hours now but actually I am not. When I try to login I get the 5 minutes waiting period which repeats over and over. I can see myself with an alt I never use, standing there where I had "logged off". I restarted the router, modem, PC, waited for 30 mins, nothing. I cannot get back online because I am already there. I cannot support a "Can't login" because that's only for premium. (I could go premium now yes, but that would feel rather sad.) Any ideas? PM me for alt info if you want to help. Thanks.

i believe sending an IM to yourself through your alt or friends might help or a sim restart.. anyway i have sent an IM to you just in case.

If you can log in as your alt............try pushing yourself. If you can push yourself into another sim.

think someone (linden) posted on the jira. could be something to do with scripted attachment(s). need to manually sort out by a linden when it happens.

I am back now after a friend called live help and a Linden killed me. Even a proper sim restart didn't boot me!

Please read my story there and comment there:

Where in the jira someone posted about this? Please give me the address. Thanks.

Well there seems to be alot of assumptions going on. With very little reasoning to solving this issue. wearing scripting causing this? That is well alittle crazy because many if not all people wear scripts on sl. Really it just looks like people trying o make it seems they THINk this is causing that is causing it etc etc etc. With nothing getting solved. I don`t know but I am glade i not that involved in this ego building mess.

I happy your out of world finally really thats what important. Otherwise just forget and move on.

I don't want to "forget" this issue. I want to know what caused it, if I caused it at all, how to prevent it. Not being able to use SL at all is the worst thing that can happen for SL. That's a showstopper.

Some people have this problem some people don`t. Some might say its badly script wore object that might be causing this problem. I heard this many time during the past few years. I believe it is, these badly scripted object.. I hightly doubt its due to massive amounts of scripting being wore. because i see people with countless numbers on and it doesnt happen to them. It has to do with the amounts and size and possiblity the conflicting scripts that might also be causing this issue.

Hi, Onehemp, welcome to the forums! You do still show up as being logged in, so I sent you an IM and paid you L1$ to see if that would wake up the asset servers and log you out. I don't think it worked.

If this goes on, you will have to contact support for the Lindens to clear it up. I've seen this happen when the sim you logged out of is not in good shape - usually a sim restart will solve that issue. I think it could happen too with some kinds of networking interruption - if you are using wireless, you might try not using it if possible.

This condition sometimes clears up on its own, or when someone IMs or pays you. However, sometimes your avatar is "ghosted" --- still visible or partially visible --- forever. Really the Lindens have to clear that up for you.

Good luck!

I sim restart doesn't help, IMs and money don't help either. I tried all of these suggestions. Contacting support is only an option if you are premium. If you are not, try to ask a friend to contact support for you. Interesting that this seems to happen frequently now. Maybe something changed on the grid and it's not a script's fault or the wireless connection.

Sorries to read this happened to you Monalisa and others, that would suck!
It is weird, I was at zero pt of a sim yesterday and there were 3 ghosting avies,
a crime boss, a fem unicorn fur and some random [which almost sounds like a bad joke].
I'd be interested in why this happens also.

I am having problems, when i finally do get to log in I can teleport anywhere except to my other plot of land. If I try to tp there i end up with my prim skirt , my hair and what other attachments firmly up my bottom but i also still actually have them attached to the right place (the stuffing is duplicates). Not only that, even though my pc says i am on the sim where my land is i am actually in the neighbouring sim hanging in a palm tree. The resident there offered to call the sl fire brigade to come and get me down...... but all the while he was hanging his washing out on my arms I was back in real life trying so hard to re-log into sl.
I cleared all my cookies, restarted sl, finally got back in and tried to tp to the neighbouring sim and fly to my land but I noticed that my skirt and belt and hair attachments were leaving duplicates like puffs of smoke behind me. As soon as i got onto the sim where my land is i was instantly transferred back to hanging in the next sims palm tree.
I thought it might be a problem with the outfit i was wearing so i changed it and strangely enough it is not the same outfit that is duplicating it is the dress i was wearing before i changed.

I have uninstalled sl completely and manually uninstalled what gets left behind from uninstalling programs. I reinstalled second life and now 2 hours down the line i am still not able to log in. Must be all the duplicates of my dress that is blocking me.

How do you contact the lindens to tell them? Also this problem started after installing the latest windlight update today.

@Pussycat

That sounds exactly like this issue
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-601

I had that too, some time ago. It was resolved by a region restart.

Thanks, I logged in as a different account with no trouble at all. Flew to my land and sure enough there is my other avi hanging in the tree ..... with img missing all over my body.
My online indicator says i am off line too. Hope the lindens restart the sim soon

Pussycat thats a bug we call "GHOSTING"...........Still can`t believe ghosting is still occuring now. Really, this issue of stuck avies always confuses me. Why its happens to some and not others. I high doubt the JIRA will solve this issue ( they havent fixed this problem for 3 years now ). If attachents are the issue then this issue should have been fixed. Another thought is the hardware on LLABS side is failing to logout avies correctly. If they havent fix things at this stage with this style of physic they never get it right. Not until LLABS invest more hardware and better ones in fact wil this be solved. 3 years of this same bug just gets to be more and more of reminder of how not to do business.

That is simply uncalled for, 3 years and we still having this ........... problems still occuring. Ghosting was bad enough years ago. But for days and days and days? I do feel sorry for you. This is just nuts.
