streaming sound on my land -- not static, volume up and down, fades, etc...

When listening to my radio station through an MP3 player, the volume is consistent. However, when I use it as music for my land, the volume fades the further you get away from the point you entered the land at.
If you walk back towards where you entered, the music gets louder again, like it was broadcasting from the point you walk in and nowhere else.
Is this a setting I missed?

is your stream source stereo?
I found in preview that a mono stream will be louder at the point where you set it but a stereo stream will play at same volume all over the plot

Thanks... it was the mono source I was using... Now I have to have crappy stereo sound instead of good sounding mono... Is this a bug or intended?

I think it's just a mis-feature... the audio engine probably doesn't have native support for mono mp3 streaming.

The way mono streams work leads me to think that the original plan was to let us set the audio stream on an object, not just on our land. I suspect the way it currently works is more of a "guys, we need to have this release out in a week" thing and not part of the original design. But that's just my opinion. Mono streams could be useful if they were able to be bound to a fixed point, preferably through the use of a script, but I have to agree, the way it is now is pretty dumb. Hopefully they'll fix it.

I hope this isn't too off-topic, but I looked all around the forums and guides but can't find anything on adding streaming audio to my land. How does one find web sites for streaming audio? Thanks in advance!

Just insert the HTTP stream information into your ABOUT LAND info when you right click on your property.
Basic HTTP streams work just fine (hell, I use a simple uploaded MP3 with a bunch of music strung together. Sloppy but it works).
Regarding an earlier comment, I have noticed the Doppler affect not on music streaming (which I haven't identified myself), but on any sounds that I embed into objects. I always assumed that it was an intentional distortion of the sound because you're moving.
I'd love to know if it's intentional or unintentional.

Thanks, Goodwrench Grayson... but my question was really about finding actual HTTP web sites for straming audio. I know where the option is, but I'm looking for sources.

ok I found out 64kbit mp3's actually sound pretty decent so I uploaded 6 o them to my own website. I enter one of them into the audio url slot and it plays just fine but it does NOT move onto the next file nor does it loop (just stops) so what do I use to make a playlist so it will play all of the files ? I tried m3u's files (also tried m3u edited with URL's) neither worked. Chris Taylor http://www.nerys.com/

then how are people playing more than one song ? maybe its not called a playlist. basically lets simplify I have 6 mp3's on my site right now. http://www.nerys.com/mp3how do I make it so I can hear ALL OF THEM in a loop when I goto my land. right now if I put in http://www.nerys.com/mp3/01.mp3 it works fine. I hear that song but only that song and only once. how do I do it so SL wil understand and play all of them over and over again. also is there anyway to sync it IE right now if I jump in I hear the song but is someone else comes in 1 minute later they hear the song from the beginning (I am assuming) Suggestions ? You get yourself some mp3 streaming software for your server ( there are quite a few available on sourceforge, and can be found via freshmeat.net or versiontracker.com )
Then, when you have set up your stream, you point your land to it..
