I was flying my ship around when I crossed a border. The ship continued to fly while I fell out at the border. As I'm flying to it, it just disappears! It wasn't refunded or anything! This is the second time it happened and I've lost 3000 dollars of money I need. I e-mailed tech support, contacted a linden, and filed a bug report the first time a few weeks ago and nothing has been solved!

Geez! That's nasty. I would be super pissed if that happened to me.

I've loose stuff all the time, as part of my experiments. I know that if you send objects high enough they'll derez, but that couldn't have happened or your money would come back. If objects go over the barrier limit, which my cruise missile has several times (It's very exciting to watch, and even more exciting to ride!) it appears in your lost and found folder.

If my objects didn't do either, I'd be really angry and stuff. Gosh!

is it possible that the owner of a plot it flew over was home, saw it & deleted it?

No I was alone in the sim :( I felt alone when I was alone.

Yeah, I had that happen to me too, the last time, it kept my keys, but didn't respond to my inputs and the release keys button disappeared. And it was too far away for me to derez, I had to relog, atleast that time I was able to get it back.

He would have gotten his money back, right? Sorry about your ship. :(

Is that possible? That could lead to some collossal abuses. With all the flying vehicles in SL, someone could simply lie in wait on a largish plot of land and collect other people's prims as they fly overhead.

Harald Nomad had a similar problem with a vehicle, I believe Colin Linden helped him with it.

Somewhere there's just got to be a HUGE pile of undeleted unseen ships, catapult arms, cows, etc. Probably the same place all the missing socks go when they escape from the dryer.

Huh...and all these years, I just thought the maid was stealing the socks. Do jewlery boxes have the same sort of thing, to catch missing rings?

Missing socks are usually just socks that have reached the end of their life span, and have crawled off to die.

Missing Socks, the Untold Story...

Don't spread this around, but I have it on good authority that sometimes socks go bad and become cannibals... :(

This is probobally an instance of the avitar-stuck-on-sim-border bug. I personally loathe this bug, but never experianced it with a vehicle. Apparently, its been happening... ::waves Linden magic wand:: Andrew Linden I choose you! (err... wrong cartoon)...:D

LL really needs to fix this, really gettin on my nerves.

As a temp solution, have the car run a slow llSensorRepeat() for the owner. If he/she goes out of range, the car will then automatically stop moving and start IM'ming the owner of the vehicle of its position.

As for the socks thing... I heard that when a sock gets too old, abused, and/or sweaty, tiny pores develop in the sock fiber. The sock gradually evaporates into the lint catcher thingy... poor things :(

I too have lost vehicles and money in this way.
I wondered if it had something to do with crossing into a sim that was almost at maximum prim usage, and adding my vehicles prims took it over the max?

I've pretty much given up on scripting anything complex, as my programming skills suck :) ... but two things I *was* thinking of adding to my vehicle scripts were:

1) detecting when it's crossing a sim, and trying to detect the prim usage of the sim about to be entered. Stop the vehicle if prim usage is too high. (I don't know if there is a way to ascertain this in LSL)

2) make the vehicle stop and land if it detects my AV is no longer sitting on it (was going to either look at links for this detection, or use sensor)

If anyone comes across a fairly large Millenium Falcon (v1.1 I think) please let me know :) It spectacuarly went to light-speed and crashed Clementina a few weeks ago! :)

Have a script that self-destructs if anyone wants it?

Senses owner every 10 seconds, if owner > 50m for 60 seconds, it IMs owner then dies. At 30 seconds, you get an IM warning. It also sends the position for worst case.

See me in game if you need.
