new grafiks card dont work with SL ?? |

ok first i am very sorry about the way i spell. hope u understand
my old cards died on my last week (7950gt) and sl worked perfectly on it. but as i said it died so i had to get me a new one (8800GT) but when i started SL! it said that i needed to opdate my drives so i did. but is still say it. can any one help i have try re-instaling SL no luck and i have re-installed my drivers no luck iether. can anyone please help me  pos i tried to look for similier problem in here puty no luck say if u need more info so u can help me |

You probably need to go to nvidia.com and get a more recent driver, too.
Not sure what the latest good one is for the 8800GT but I think the most recent one has problems with SL. Hopefully, somebody will post what a good one is.. _____________________

175.xx or less...apparently there are problems with 178.13 which is the newest at nvidia for 8800GT

I have an Nvidia 8800GT and it works fine. The reason why you get the message about "updating your drivers" is probably because you didn't UN-install your old driver before installing the new one. Uninstall your graphics driver, reboot, install whatever driver you want to use (actually, I'm using 169.21), and reboot again.
If you still get the message, then uninstall the driver again and use a registry cleaner before you re-install your driver. Good luck! . |

You'll love the 8800 when you get squared away. I'm using 1.75 drivers and no problems.

I got the new Nvidia GTX280 (and ofcourse new drivers, DirectX, XP-SP3) and I have severe issues with that card in SL - clothing doesnt draw well, the water/ski interlaces with the world etc.
I should add that I have set everything to max, except that I have turned off "wter reflections" in the shaders, as it generates alot of lag, nomatter if the sim is alone and has nothing on it. |

using 169.21 as well there are still issues even witth the newest 178.26 drivers.. I tried the 175.?? and they had a lot of bugs with SL as well
if you can try those. Downlaod from Nvidia Archive SAVE it . uninstall all traces of the old Graphic Drivers, re boot and install the older driver set (or you can try the new ones , but there are a lot of bugs with them. the best way is to use a driver cleaner , but alas there are none free anymore that I can find _____________________

The 8800 is probably one of the best and most reliable cards for running SL, perhaps if you post some of your computers other stats we might be able to help further

I'm running the same processor with no problems, looks like a great system to run SL, plenty of memory too. Unless you have a hardware fault, I'd be reinstalling software, cleaning & defraging hard drive, disck check, (maybe a virus scan), closing down any other junk programs running in the background, my system nearly same specs pnly running XP instead of Vista, easily handles SL at high settings, not ultra if I want to move smoothly and runs the forums, email and 20 other windows like Utube etc open at once on the second monitor.

ATI 8800 problems

I am haveing the same problems with my ati firegl 8800 card...I am running a 1.7 p4 gateway system with 512 mb of ram I do have the latest driver for my card but it still says i need to update them...I have cleaned out my regs as well and it still wont let me play...any help would be apprecaited...mudphreak@gmail.com
