I have an HP dv9700 laptop. When I'm on my desktop system my camera controls work, but they do not work on my laptop. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Expound on the subject a bit, maybe.
When you say the camera controls don't work, do you mean alt-clicking on something and mousing around, or using the keyboard camera controls, or using the onscreen camera controls?
Do the camera controls do nothing at all, or do they just not work correctly?
Are you using the same account on both systems?
What kind of pointing device do you have? Corded mouse, wireless mouse, touchpad, or what?
What version of SL? What operating system? Is the laptop connected wired or wireless? What video processor? What video driver?
Have you searched the issue tracker at jira.secondlife.com for such things as "camera controls". the model of your computer, the version of your graphics driver, etc.?
If you are using cables to connect both computers, have you tried switching the cables around?

The alt-left click function is what is not working working. When I press alt and left click I do get the zoom cursor, but nothing moves, no zooming or panning. I can zoom and pan with the atl +arrow keys, and I can open the camera controls from the menu, but of course those are limited.
I only have one sl account that I am accessing from the two different computers.
I've used a wired and cordless mouse, and even tried it with the touchpad of the laptop, but I get the same reaction, which is just the zoom cursor, but no zooming or panning.
I'm currently using Second Life 1.20.16 (I was getting regularly booted with 1.21)... but I've gone through several versions and the lack of camera controls has been the same. I have Vista HP. Again, I've had the laptop connected wired and wirelessly, the problem was the same. I have a GeForce 7150M, which is unfortunately and integrated card (I'm hoping this isn't the problem as it is not upgradable).
I had not heard of jira.secondlife.com, I'll spend some time there.
I have changed cables to no effect.
