Probably I'm justmissing something but here is the Q I'm wanting to install a new caed, I have a PCI Express slot, but....there is no corresponding cutout in the rear panel for the ports onthe back of the card to stick through. Well, I can't see one anyway, but my eyesight is not the best. Is there likely to be something that I can't see until I get in close with my magnifying glasses on, or might I have to cut a hole myself. I won't do that, I just want a clue what's going on before I order the card. Seems that if the computer maker--it's an E machine--provides the slot, they would also provide the rear panel opening.

FWIW this is the card: http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=3244227&sku=P450-866

What model is the emachines?

Does it have the original motherboard in it?

What model is the motherboard?

A photograph might be in order.

Possibly this is similar to the situation described at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-4_102-0.html?threadID=164629 , an emachines t5020 with a motherboard that can have a pci-e slot but it was not supported by emachines.

the part of the PCIe cards that stick out the back is offset a full slot down from where the card plugs in. If your MB has the slot and fit's into a case that was made for it, then it should be fine. oh, you know you have to remove one of the little covers, right?
