I frequently (but not constantly) have logon sessions where at least half of the textures in an area never rez. For example I logged on and stepped away from my computer for over 30 minutes and when I came back most of the area was still grey. Other times the environment will rez fine and quickly. It is not the area itself because it is often the same area with those different results. I have an nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS with current drivers, 4GB RAM, Intel T9500 dual cores @ 2.6GHz and Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Currently running without Aero running.

Drivers are already updated. I ran an update before retesting and posting this thread.

Have you tried clearing the cache, or if that doesn't help deleting the cache folder?

I already cleared cache and it had no effect. I cleared cache and deleted the cache file and still no effect (30 minutes and still most of the textures in the area have not rendered which is actually somewhat worse than before).
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you.

Are you dropping packets? ctl-shift-1. Packet loss %
If you are, try lowering your maximum bandwidth until packet loss gores to zero.

Apparently it is a viewer issue. I just tried the latest RC and the Kristen Viewer. Both are infinitely better. I have never seen an area rez and render as fast I have seen on Kristen ever, on any setting.

Dagmar, my guess is the texture memory in that first viewer you were using was set too low. If it was set properly in the other two viewers you tried, that would explain the difference.
Edit -> Preferences -> Graphics -> Hardware Options.
Angeltatz, your question doesn't appear to have anything to do with this thread. You should have started a new thread, not tagged your off-topic post onto this one. In any case, as I seem to be saying at least a hundred times a week lately in this forum, it's impossible to help you unless you post your system specs. Give us something to go on, and we can help. Otherwise, there are literally infinite possibilities for what might be the cause of your problem.

When a very knowledgeable person suggests starting a new thread, it might behoove one to start a new thread.

From: Dagmar Heideman Apparently it is a viewer issue. I just tried the latest RC and the Kristen Viewer. Both are infinitely better. I was in the market for a new gamer laptop and tried out 4 different machines, all with Vista 64 bit, most with GeForce 9800 GTS 512 or 1 gig video ram. In SL things rezz VERY slow, sometimes after an hour avatars are still blurry. As a newer one, I am not familiar with your solution.. latest RC and Kristen Viewer. where can I get them and hope it solves my issues? thanks much.
