Hi I'm looking at buying a new PC and I've found one in my price budget, I was just wondering if the 6100 would be compatible with SL on Vista Home Premium. The PC specs are on this web page. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1542395762.1209205803@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdcadedmdlllelcflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&page=Product&fm=1&sm=1&tm=5&sku=504889&category_oid=-26387 Thanks in advance for all your help.

Ok thank you for your help, i was told on the Resident Forums that it should handle SL. I was more worried if Vista would cause problems with SL and that graphics card.

wow i havnt seen a packard PC in years lol. looks like they`v gotten abit better.
overall it looks like a decent system for that price, the geforce 7500LE should run SL just fine. maybe not RC4 on ultra graphics but good enough for a decent image and ok performance. upgrading the ram in it would be a good idea of cource. everything else looks good on it

Actually thats what I use in my laptop, go 6150. Works fine I will be looking for a better graphics card soon. The HP has a 8000 series one now for about 1000.

Does it works ok with Vista Morgaine, i read through the forums about the 6100 and people are saying it's not a very good card. Then i also found that people are saying it works great for them lol. It's got me a little confused.

I'm pretty sure any card that will work with SL using XP will work with Vista too........but, you must have more system RAM to conpensate for Vista's heavy usage of RAM. If your XP machine has 1 gig you would probably need 2 gigs for your Vista machine to get about the same performance. Also, drivers are still in the making by manufacturers for Vista.....but they are gaining on it. And, Vista 64 bit seems to have even more trouble with drivers (but, aside from a few business applications 64 bit OS's are few and far between........SL being one of the ones not coded to use 64 bit). Vista 32 gets along fine with SL.

If i was too upgrade the Ram i'd have too go through Packard Bell right and if i was too remove Vista and install XP Home would that void the warrenty?

Sorry I should have said yes I have no problems with Vista and SL too. Dont know why but Vista has never given me a prob period. I get confused with all this too. Dont know what all the deal is with the new 8000 series card is about some say yes some say no?

I don't think that would void the warranty. But, to be safe, I would partitian the drive and put XP on the new partitian and dual boot. Besides, that gives you a way to tell what works and doesn't work.

My Vista machine runs SL BETTER than my old XP machine. Same graphics card just 3 gigs of RAM vs the 1.5 gigs the XP had.

Morgaine the card you are using is the 6150 right, how much Ram do you have if you don't mind me asking. I have found another couple of PC's they are all reconditioned by the way, i'd prefer too buy one that i know would work. I don't really wanna have too buy one and then have too upgrade as soon as i get it home, if you know what i mean So i found this one, everything should run on this ok right? http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1793934382.1209226877@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdcadedmdlllelcflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&page=Product&fm=1&sm=1&tm=5&sku=773908&category_oid=-26387
