sound issues

I am getting no sound of any sort from Second Life. i am running win2000 pro and have a sound blaster audigy 2 platinum. i tried playing SL once, no sound. so i logged (never changed any audio settings), downloaded the most recent SBA2EAX4 drivers from the creative labs website. installed them, rebooted, and loaded SL. Still no sound.. in between all of these steps i have checked mp3 files and had them play fine.

any advice would be greatly appreciated

Some people are reporting problems where the sound effects take an hour or more to load. How long are you waiting for sounds to load?

Sound Problems

When I adjust my sound (key board knob), my computer crashes. I don't do that any more, but gee whiz, it would be nice to have silence in some situations.
