This isn't exactly an issue but it's technical. People should know that HTML DOESN'T WORK HERE! Sorry everyone but I'm getting sick of seeing stuff like this. Is anyone else getting irritated by this? Perhaps we could get SL to turn Html on?

Yes. Annoying, isn't it?
Perhaps we could get SL to turn Html on? Hm.. Any suggestions how we could get them to do that? _____________________

The forum previously supported BBCode, not HTML. It was turned off due to a security issue. Since then the board has been abandoned by LL. There will be no further changes to this forum.
Btw, what you posted ".." is BBCode, not HTML. |

I'm getting sick of seeing stuff like this. Just so you know, one could easily turn that around to say, "I'm sick of people who don't read the stickies," or at the very least, "I'm sick of people who don't know the difference between HTML and bbCode." I wouldn't say that, but you did opene yourself up to it, if anyone feels so inclined. ![]() Take a look at the top of the Resident Answers forum. You'll see a post entitled BBCode Emulation in Greasemonkey. If you're using Firefox, you can install the plugin and the script that that post describes, which was put together by a moderator of this forum. That will allow bbCode to be displayed properly in your browser, even though the forum engine itself isn't doing it. In any case, as Dante pointed out, the forum did have bbCode enabled for the first several years of its life, which is why you see a lot of it used in older posts. These days, those who are in the know tend to limit it to what few tags still work, such as and [img]. But some, presumably those using that Greasemonkey script, do use the full lot. I've gotten so used to seeing them, I tend to just read right through them. If someone puts a word between tags, I just see at as bold in my mind's eye. The only place it screws me up is on other forums, which do work the way they're supposed to. Avoiding formatting has become such a habit here that when I post elsewhere, I have to remind myself, "Oh yeah, I actually CAN make that bold." _____________________

I personally prefer the lack of formatting. I can not stand other forums, 10 font sizes, 20 colors, and 6 images, all in one post o_o
It also forces you to be creative, and improve your writing skills. You can make a post just as beautiful with just text as you can while using tags. Overuse of formatting controls actually degrades a persons writing skills. You will start to rely on that tag, for example, to show emphasis. |
