Video Driver stopped responding?

Hello everyone.
I did some searching but I couldnt really find what I was looking for. I have read that SL has some trouble with running on Vista, so I realize that may be the root of my problem (unless the info I read is old!)

However, SL seems to run fine 90% of the time for me.. its just a few random CTD's I get. I'm hoping someone has some sort of work around for the users that *bites tongue* enjoy using Vista. =P

I have read that when installing nvidia drivers, sometimes OpenGL doesn't get copied successfully, and that could be part of the problem. But I couldn't find out how to actually get them installed correctly?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

SL Version 1.19.1
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
Intel Quad Q6600
Crucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) PC2 6400
XFX Geforce 9800 GX2 1024MB (v174.74 drivers)
XFX MB-N780-ISH9 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI

Try disabling avatar impostors in prefs...I think there was an issue in the newest viewer for NVidia cards with that.

Had that so many times so id easy blame nvidias drivers on Vista for this, shouldnt be that frequent anymore ,but i have ditched vista, so im not trying it now :q

Went back to XP, and havnt seen that stopped ever again, disable aero somewhat worked for this error i think.

Imposters where removed since last update, never had a issue with it myself tho.

Used to happen to me at least 10-25 times a day. Now only happens 1-3 times a day, but it's a normal thing really. I'm used to it. Just close SL, then restart it and log in again. My computer really, really really, really really, really doesn't like to run SL at all. I'm running Vista.
