Can you post some specs of your PC? What crash message, if any, did you get?

Hmm.. specs on my machine
ATI Radeon 9000 128mb Video card (have all current drivers) 750 AMD Processor 256mb Ram I don't know what else info would help, but that's all I know off the top of my head. The crash message just says a crash occured, and checking hardware. |

Actually... Doh! I just realized that I don't meet all min requirements. My processor is only 750 and 800 is required.
Oh well. It looked fun. I've canceled my account for now. ![]() |

Err, you didn't need to cancel your account...750 should be fine. I know people who have 400 and still play. That's not what's causing the crash.
Most likely, you need to update motherboard drivers and BIOS. If that's not it, contact support@secondlife.com. _____________________

I've updated everything I know to update. This happens in everygame I try to play. I'm having some other problems, no telling what is going on. Thanks though.

I had this problem on my Dual 2 Powermac G5. My ATI Radeon 9600 Pro AGP 64 Vram card crashed Second Life every few minutes. I browsed around the forums and found that by turning off AGP under the graphics settings in Second Life, it would run for hours crash free. This may just be a mac specific issue with the AGP, but you could always try it.

Is that something I'd have to do in-game? How do I do that?

On the login screen, click the Preferences button, then go to the Options tab (or maybe the Graphics tab?) and uncheck AGP Acceleration.

Update:
I received a response from SL support. Here is what they had to say: Thanks for your inquiry. If you computer is under our minimum technical specifications I really can't offer you much advice in how to trouble-shoot this. Most often, crashes like this would be as a result of older motherboard drivers, however, your motherboard is old enough that a newer driver may not be available My motherboard is a DFI AK70. Anyone know about those? |

The AK70 is an absolutely ancient Slot A mainboard, based on AMD's refernce design for Athlon boards. Don't expect any sort of spectacular performance from it.
The latest drivers are available from dfi.com. Direct download links (might not work): IDE busmaster driver AGP miniport driver _____________________
