hi all,
just hooked up a new computer, which seems to be performing worse than my old one was in some areas.
what i see when i log in is a thousand times better than what i had before, but there are other issues.
it seems to take a bit too long for my surroundings to rez. once they have, i get this stutter. i can only describe it like an inchworm. for a few seconds, everything is smooth, and wonderful, then it all screeches to a halt. wait a couple seconds, then it all flows nicely.....then repeat and rinse. my old machine was choppy, but rarely ever did these complete stops like this. it is very frustrating.
specs: 3.01ghz amd athalon 64x2 6000+ processor, 2 gig ddr3 ram, nvidia 8600gt with 256mb ram in a pci express slot, and an acer 22" lcd monitor.
i would've expected to be able to run everything in the best quality modes with this stuff, but it appears i may be wrong?
old system was 2.1ghz with 1.5gig ddr ram, geforce 7600gt with 256 mb in an agp slot, on a 21" crt monitor.
the only other thing i can think of, would be how i'm connected to the internet. i have been running dsl for 8 years, and never a problem. on the old machine, my ethernet card faailed, so i went out and got a linksys card, and installed that.
this new machine lists it as an nvidia adaptor?
thanks for any and all help!!!!
