Mail flood! (Name has left this session.)

Hi, Anyone else being flooded by emails? It's obviously coming from the IM to email system, which I have enabled, but starting a few minutes ago I am receiving emails containing only "  Name) has left this session." I've received 174 of them at the time of this post. None of them have actually contained the text of an IM. Lindens, is this something that can be fixed? I'm at work and can't log in to talk to anyone in SL, so I'm hoping this post will be noticed. Thanks! |

It's started back up again. Since my last post, I have received 537 (and counting) new emails containing " Name) has left this session." Could someone please look into this? |

I just got over 1000 emails from SL!!!!!!
this is REALLY bogus!!!

That was a great stress-test for my mail server. All told, I received 1015 of these. My normal mail volume is about that many in a day and a half, so it's good to know that I have plenty of capacity left. ;)

We are on it. We think that only a few of you got the message, but its painful getting all those emails. The email server is shut down until we can debug. More on this late breaking news story as it progresses. Now, back to the studio.  -P |

Just wanted to say thanks to Doug Linden for taking the time to write me and explain what was going on.. it was a bit of a shock to check my email and see 1024 new ones when at most I get perhaps.. 6 or 7. <grins> The explination was very much appreciated.
Here's hoping you have no further issues of this sort with your email server! Must be a pain to deal with..

I agree with Lyra, it was very nice of Doug to take time to send a personal email, on an obvious sleepless night. I woun't look to kick your butt......but the bag over your head is a good idea!  -TK

Yes he emailed me too, something that would never ever happen in any other game i've ever played. One thing that is keeping me here, are the Lindens themselves. I've never seen so many helpful people |

I guess I was even 'luckier', as I got home after leaving the message above. I found a message on my voicemail from Peter Linden notifying me of the issue, apologizing for the inconvenience, and that they had stopped that feature til it could be fixed.
Hows that for personal service! Wow!
I didn't like the email flood, but I greatly appreciate the followup and promptness to dealing with the issue.
