Okay, First post, so bear with me. I have recently gotten a new graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 3650) after my pc crashed (had a GeForce 7600 GS until it stopped working) and SL crashes every time I try to start it, it shows up in my task manager in processes but then shortly after it crashes, I have all the latest video drivers and I have also disabled the Catalyst AI, cleared my cache and so forth.... My PC specs are of the following:

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
Dual Core 3.2 Ghz of speed
2 gigs of Ram
ATI Radeon HD 3650 1gig AGP card

I have checked the Forums here for the same problem and they say to disable the Cat AI and it still doesn't work. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times..... help is needed.
Thanks

What version video driver do you have? Where did you get it from?

I got it from the AMD site for when you update via cd and its version 9.8.

Looks like a similar problem to the person who just got a 4600 series ATI card. Try this:

Update the driver and then open SL, but do not log on. Open the preferences from the top menu, and make sure the VBO is unchecked.

If it still freezes after that, try opening SL and going to the preferences (again, before you enter your password). Check the "custom" option for graphics and turn all graphics sliders to their lowest level, and uncheck the options. If this works, you can then raise your settings a little bit at a time until SL is stable.

The thing is I can't even get to the login screen. It crashes after the grey box saying (Loading) or something relative to that. It shows up in processes for a few seconds and then its gone.

Try getting your driver from here:

http://www.atidriver.org/?gclid=CLiEwYrT95wCFRESawodTDW1aw

I'm not a fan of ATI so I have no tips for installing them. However, back a few years ago when I did have an ATI card there was a utility that properly removed any remnants of your old driver before installing the new one.........not sure if that utility still comes with the drivers. You might look at that Driver Robot ATI is tauting.......it may be a replacement utility. The main trick to any driver installation or upgrading is to get rid of the old driver first to avoid corrupting the new driver.

And I suggest you uninstall SL again. But before you reinstall do a search of your hard drive for anything SL or Second Life and manually delete the left over fines.........including the entire cache folder. Also, get a fresh download in case the first one you downloaded could be corrupted.

You will probably need to get the driver or hotfix from the card manufacturer's web site. I do not believe ATI's drivers support AGP HD series graphics adapters.
