Macintoshes and ATI Radeon cards?

Hi,

I have read many posts about ATI Radeon Video Card problems with SL. People have reported crashes, having to turn off some display options to get the cards to work, etc.

Are these problems isolated only to those in the PC world or are they shared by Mac folk?

I ask because I am thinking of upgrading my video card and would like to know if I should go NVidia or ATI Radeon.

Thanks,

D.

I haven't had any problems at all with the Radeon 9600 in my Powerbook --- yet.

Catherine Omega: Yes, but lots of stuff isn't listed. "Making UI harder to use than ever" and "removing all the necessary status icons" things.... there's nothing like that in the release notes. :)

I had very minor graphical issues on my cousin's iBook with a Radeon 9200, but that was for the 1.1 alpha.

I believe that a combination of better drivers and a reworked codebase means that the Mac version will not likely see the same issues the PC one has had with ATI.

I in fact played the Mac alpha first on the ATI, and only later did I even pause to think "hey, that was an ATI card wasn't it?"
