TP/Groups/Media/Voice/Land info Issues.

Yep, that's right. I basically have -all- of these issues at once. It's like SL completely fails to receive a connection short of being able to log in.

Here's the story, this seems to have started about two weeks ago or so, around the time I updated to the new viewer.

Basically sometimes when logging into SL, my Music Icon, and voice, groups, land info are all seemingly lacking information and grayed out, and anytime that I try to teleport I get instantly logged out. I will try to TP, and it just gets stuck at requesting region until it logs me out, and if I cancel, the whole world (all buildings, everything around me) disappears and I can't type, move, or do anything until It finally logs me out. Other times, voice pops up and media pops up, but at some point I will get logged out with 600ms ping and when I get back on everything is messed up again. My other computer is right next to this one with another game on, and that game isn't lagging when SL logs me out, so It's surely not my net connection doing this.

I have tried all these things:

*Tested SL on Vista 64 bit SP1 and Windows XP 32bit SP3, the problem is on BOTH operating systems, on all of my alts. Mind you how different the operating systems are, this is unlikely to be a driver issue of any sort. Though I have recently upgrading my Graphics drivers for some other games I play.

*Tried Uninstalling and Re-installing the client, nothing.

*Cleared SL cache tons of times

*Scanned for Viruses, Spyware, and the likes. My computer is clean as always.

*Reset my router and modem too many times to count, sometimes leaving them off for a while to let them cool down

*Tried many many other multi-player games on my computer, some of which have voice, and all work fine. Browsing the net is also 100% fine as well.

*ALL other computers on my home network *Including computers connected through Wi-FI work flawlessly with SL, while my desktop has these issues.

*Obviously rebooted my computer many times.

*Disabled my firewall, Virus scanner, etc. Which has never been a problem before, and still isn't for any game or other things I run.

*Checked for overheating, all temperatures are perfectly fine.

The last thing that I have to test is my cat6 cable, which is plugged into my router. Obviously my router's settings aren't a problem if SL has worked fine all last year and some of this year and still continues to work fine on other computers in the house.

I haven't tested a new cable because I don't have an extra one that is long enough to test with yet. I'll have to move my whole system into my office and test it there for a while. I will feel like a complete ass if the cable was the problem the whole time, but I'm having my doubts because if this cable was a problem then I'd imagine that other games would be noticing it. I play some other games which are extremely sensitive to bad computer hardware and bad connections, and none of them are having problems. But if my SL viewer didn't like something about my drivers then it wouldn't be doing it across both of my operating systems. If it doesn't like something about my hardware - that's odd, not sure what to say about that.

If anyone knows how / where to download the previous version of the viewer before the most recent one (as of this post) It would be greatly appreciated, I have no idea how / where to go to get it, willing to try anything really to get SL working again, seeing as this is my best computer in the house and I'd like to use SL on it.

*Processor - (AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.0ghz

*RAM - 4gigs of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800mhz

*Motherboard - Crappy ECS Elitegroup 7050-M-M

*Hard Drives - 2x 320GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM Sata 3.0gb/s 16mb Cache.

*Video Card: EVGA GeForce 320mb 8800GTS

*Power Supply - 36 amp 500watt Antec Basiq.

I am using the Motherboard's built in network adapter, btw.

having exact same problem for a month now .. and nothing is helping ... not even linden lab, my ticket been work in progress for 3 weeks, no reply

Yeah, It's frustrating. I'm just looking for insight. I realize that this thread may be similar to some other ones, but I have not seen anyone with problems as specific as mine yet and I'm starting to rip my hair out.

I'm usually the one helping people with things such as this, I build my own computers and work on them quite often, so usually I can sort these things out myself, but this is one of the most confusing problems I've ever had with a game, I can't figure it out.

I'm brainstorming some more ideas to try out, if anyone else has other ideas please post them.

goto secondlife log file and click on secondlife notepad, if you see an error like this

Not seeing that specific thing no.

When I go to look at my groups tab, it says ''None'' as if I'm not in any groups, but in my profile they are all there. I kind of forgot to be specific with that.

Do you get that groups problem too? It seems to depend on what region I'm in as well at the time of when the game is messing up. At my home my groups show up, but at a friend's Sim they are all gone.

The land info thing is also weird, it just doesn't display some information about the region I'm in, the game is in one of it's working-phases at the moment, so once it messes up again which is undoubtedly soon I'll elaborate more on that.

I found out something new I think. It seems that when I get lagged out, I log back into the last location I was and voice and media are broken no matter how many times I log / relog into that region again.

But, if I type in a new region name and log into a whole different region then everything works again until the next time SL logs me out. So basically logging into a different region fixes it for a short amount of time.

Having the same issues for hmm a month or maybe little more. I have done everything you have listed and still same issues. And yes logging into another region does seem to work some of the time. Very frustrated. I'm on vista now i thought maybe thats why. I dunno i kinda just give up

Yep, nothing we can do, it has to be LL in my opinion. Now all of my computers have the problem and I ran tracerts via the CMD menu and the request timed out almost 20 times for the last ip it was meant to connect to (their sim server).

On other successful tracerts (When SL actually works) it always ends with connecting to their server, so it's either my router or ISP or it's something up their server's butts. I have never had this problem for a whole year on SL using this exact router with these exact settings until now. It just seems all too coincidental that their new viewer and sim versions and these connection problems (which many people have) happen at the same time.

But like I said, every other game and application has balls of gold on my network, SL is just seriously messed.

So yeah all the things I mentioned before about it being my computer can be negated, it's every machine now. I've just resorted to not using SL at all now, too much of a headache to try and play a game that doesn't work, and shutting off the viewer every time I want to tp gets old.

Hi guys i think i found the fix for me and I'm not sure if it will work for you too but try it anyway.

Go to Preferences> Web>make sure your Enable Web Proxy is checked, click apply and ok

I did it yesterday and since i have not had one log in with the no music, groups,media, or land information. Also so far tping has been working.
I was just messing around and thought maybe it might work. Hope its a fix for some of you or all of you,

*heavy sigh* never mind it was a fluke. for several days after I did that I had no issues but it came back. Still happening and can't figure it out.

run a speed test on your network , reset your router anyway and the modem. then run the test again. compare with others .. at speedtest.net

then run msconfig and turn off all your startups ..the load startup items

this if still no inprovement then see if its your viewer
