Since this "Security Update" it's clear I can not be logged in longer then 1 minute before SL and my whole machine freezes. And if I dont log out before that I need to manually reboot my computer.

I was thinking it had to do with this new vieuwer version but since then I have tried: nicolaz, cool, onrez, betagrit/second life mono, Candidate Viewer and some more. All with the same result. While before the "Security Update" I know I could run those normaly.

In the one minute I am given everything works fine and looks normal. Just like it has done the past 1.5 year.

Sometimes if I logged out fast enough: a second try would result in error mesages about my graphics card driver. So I been reinstalling the latest and resent drivers. Those drivers would work fine before this update btw.

So here I am now, out of ideas.

Windows xp, service pack 2
intel(r) core(tm) duo cpu 6300 @ 1.86GHz
1GB RAM
Ati Radeon x1300/x1550 Serries

Any new ideas greatly appreciated. The idea that leads to a costless solution I will reward inworld with a nice gift of some kind. ^_^

I've been having the exact same problem.

For about a month now. And I'm completely out of ideas. :(

I was having that problem for a couple of weeks after the hurricane. I found that if I created an alt with a virtually empty inventory and logged in with that, I could last longer. After a while it cleared up... I assumed it was some weird problem with my ISP.

I see, oddly enough my trouble didn't start till that last update.

Mmm, I am pretty sure In my case it has to do with the graphics card/driver. Though I must admit my inventory is huge. But I guess we are entitled to one WORKING account without extra pay lol. So I might try that if I run out of options.

Thanks for sharing. ^_^

Someone suggested to make a Linux partition and try it from there. But I fear my computer is to messed up by unkle microsoft already to do so. I will however also try that before considering to buy a new card.

I determined the fault is not in my account as I frequently freeze even *before* logging in.

Like, I'm in the login screen, adjusting preferences and BAM! Black screen.

Mmm, in some viewers that was my experience too.

I now also learned that if I log out before the total freeze it shows SL had messed with my driver settings or something. Untill I reboot my machine the visuals -in my browser for example- are lagging and there is some constant flickering.

Rather frustrating, still really want to reward people who come up with a costless solution.
So yes, if someone has alike trouble or has an idea to work around this post it please.

^_^

Ok, the freezing stopped for about a week or so, but now it seems to have made a comeback.

There have been no changes to my PC as far as I know, and I'm using the same client as before. I know clearing the cache won't help so I'm not gonna even bother.
